Continue ReadingWhen this league plays its games, the rivalries are as intense as any high school league in the country. Seven schools, not far apart, with passionate full house gyms. This league has started up and their fans, alumni, and pure hoop junkies are glad they did. Here are some of the rising seniors who have stepped up to lead their teams in the early going. These players should be on college program radars.
Cooper Francis. 6”2. 2021. Chaminade
Starting off the season by averaging 12 ppg. Showing the ability to score inside and on the perimeter. An old-school type of player does everything well. Good with the ball in his hands late in the game. Makes the right play and has a tough competitive spirit to find a way to win the game.
Jared Weekly. 6”6. 2021. Holy Trinity
One of the top three players in this league. Averaging 21 ppg. Scores inside and out. Rebounds in traffic. He is showing off all of his skillsets in the early going. A long athletic player. He can guard the post or out on the perimeter. A rim protector. Also an excellent passer, from the post or on the wing. A scholarship player at the next level.
Ben Toussaint. 6”3 2021. St. Dominick’s
Scoring 11 a game. He does it with his back to the basket or draining the three. An excellent three-point shooter. A strong body knows how to use it inside. A versatile player for a D3 program.
Javier Contreras Javier Contreras 6'0" | PG Holy Trinity | 2021 State NY 5”11 2021. Holy Trinity
A crafty guard. Really good shooter and passer. Has good court awareness and a feel for the game. Excellent at coming off screens. Understands the impact of changing speeds with his dribble. Scoring 9 ppg.
Don Mays. 6”6. 2021. St. Dominick’s
Getting 8 ppg. Has a good handle for a bigger player. Can get to the rim and score. Also can step out and shoot the three. Excellent rebounder. A nice rotation piece for a D3 program.
Jaylen Bhoorasingh. 6”2. 2021. Holy Trinity
Very efficient player. Scores in a variety of ways. Makes the right play look simple. Gets the ball to his teammates at the right time. Can guard multiple positions. A winning player. In a small sample size, he is averaging 7ppg.
