Marat Belhouchet, Newton north, Position GMarat and his brother Karim proved to be a good back court for the Tigers this season. Both belhouchet brothers are high level shooters. Marat has good handles, sees the floor well, goes hard to the basket, and has a soft touch. He has a very quick shot release. What I really like about his shot, is how he consitently gets the ball in the shooting pocket. That is key to being a consitent shooter. Marat had his breakout game this season in Norths game vs Natick. Marat had key baskets down the stretch with starters out. With his brother Karim graduating, I think Marat next season will take over for a lot of the roles of Point guard. Marat is always working on his game, and often stays after practice to get shots up on the shooting machine.
Holland Hargens, Newton North, Position F
Holland is physically built, and is able to attack in the paint hard. Holland is a very good finisher in the paint. Holland has good ball fakes, that gets defenders out of position. Holland can also get out in transition and score. Holland rebounds the ball well, and is aggressive on the boards. Holland is a very solid and strong built player.
Jaiden Soberanis, Newton South, Position G
What Jaiden may lack in size, he makes up for it with being super quick, and his skill set. Jaiden is very fast and is great in transition. Jaiden does a good job of finishing over bigger defenders. Jaiden is also a very good passer. Jaiden was a big part of souths loaded offense. This was a comeback season for Jaiden, as he battled a Knee injury that kept him out for last season.
Ryan Hatem Newton south, position G
Ryan is a high IQ guard who can make a play when you need it. Ryan isn’t the biggest player, but he can make up for it with his athleticism and strength. Ryan is a tough defender, and can get to the basket. Ryan has a good shot and is a good passer. Ryan is a tough atheltic guard.
Jason Antonellis Newton North, position G
Jason is a player who can finsih through contact with both hands, and is tough driving to the basket. He is a scorer, who can hit shots and is a good passer. Jason is a playmaker and can create his own shot. He can go one on one, or catch and shoot. Jason has a high basketball IQ and understands the game well. I predict Jason to have a big senior year. This is a comeback season for Jason, as last year he was sidlined with an injury.
DJ Kline Needham. Postion G
DJ is a very smooth player who plays the game smart and doesn’t turn it over a lot. DJ has a nice shooting touch, and can hit shots with players on him. DJ really sees the floor well and make his teammates involved. DJ is a hustle player and will always go after lose balls. DJ’s basketball IQ, and smooth skill set makes him an impact player.
