Logan opened up the lead early in the second half and won it by a final of 53-41. Time to look at the prospects in this game with JUCO Gems: Logan vs Vincennes Top Performers!
Jamarion Sharp (John A Logan – Sophomore)
Sharp had a dominant performance in the region title game between these two last year and he did it again. The 7’3” five man had a rough start with a couple turnovers, but from that point on he was the focal point of the game. Banked in a jump hook and made a short jumper. Then it was all about the boards and protecting the rim. He high pointed rebounds going after them aggressively along with swatting everything that came near him as he is leading NJCAA in blocks. Timing and feel coming from the weakside and swatting jump shots as well. Finished with 5 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 blocks. Committed to Western Kentucky.
Sydney Curry (John A Logan – Sophomore)
The Kansas commit is still working his way back after missing the early season for the Vols. Curry is built like an NFL defensive end and loves to play bully ball going right up and through his opponent for scores. Quickness in the paint and was very good on the glass throughout. Like the energy he brought on both ends along with his sheer physicality inside. He had 9 points and 7 rebounds.
Mario McKinney (John A Logan – Sophomore)
Former Vashon star who transferred in from Mizzou has a lot of high-major interest. He is the ideal microwave scorer for a program looking for instant offense. Most of the time it is on acrobatic and strong drives. In this game he let it fly from three hitting on four of them from distance along with one his patented scoop shots late en route to 15 points.
Xavier Ball (John A Logan – Sophomore)
Ball is a well built four man that can play inside and out. Showcased that hitting a three, baseline jumper, right-handed hook on the block, and got to the line. Versatile forward can switch and guard multiple positions. He had 9 points.
Dre Boyd (John A Logan – Freshman)
The freshman guard came up big for the Vols in their win playing tough defense on the perimeter getting steals and taking them the other way for scores. He was at his best in transition scoring 8 points in the game.
Christian Wells (Vincennes – Sophomore)
Wells continues to be a prospect I think can help a low-major program. The 6’5” crafty four man just knows how to play the game. Not overly athletic, but he is efficient with his touches and has sound footwork. Likes the jump hook and seals off his man for buckets. He went for 12 points.
Deatrick Pashell (Vincennes – Sophomore)
Pashell has nice size at the center position. He was a standout player in this game with his ability to stretch the floor with his shooting knocking in three pick and pop shots from mid-range for his 6 points. Colleges love posts that can step out and hit a shot in todays game.
