Continue ReadingThe Covid-19 pauses for the Penn Charter and SCHA basketball programs ended late last week. Thus the Inter Ac basketball schedule was able to return to a full slate of games for the final week of the season. The result was that a slew of prospects were able to get out on the court and put in outstanding performances.
Prep Hoops is here to highlight those performances in southeastern Pennsylvania’s Inter-Ac League.
Jameel Brown Jameel Brown 6'4" | SG Westtown School | 2022 State #180 Nation PA – 6’4” / Junior / Haverford School / Combo Guard: The Purdue commit tipped off his week by lighting up Penn Charter for 25 points (5 threes). Brown kept things rolling along with 3 threes and 20 points overall as the Fords downed Malvern for the second time this season. His 26 point effort (4 threes) against GA was a thing of beauty. The Class of 2022 prospect ended the week with 10 points in the season finale win over EA.
Mark Butler Mark Butler 5'10" | PG William Penn Charter | 2023 State PA – 5’9” / Sophomore / Penn Charter / Guard: The freshman backcourts star who is widely regarded as the next great “Philly Guard” posted 12 ppg. last year as a freshman. After a lengthy Covid pause for the Penn Charter hoops program, Butler returned to action this week with 13 points in a loss to Haverford. Next, Butler posted a season high 21 points in a win over EA. He closed the season with an 11-spot vs. Germantown Academy.
Will Delaney – 6’0” / Senior / Episcopal Academy / Combo Guard: Delaney continues to score the ball at an impressive clip. The Hofstra lacrosse commit splashed home 4 threes and tallied 22 total points against SCHA. After a 15 point night in the rematch against SCHA, Delaney hit for another 15 points against Penn Charter. In the season finale vs Haverford, Delaney scored a season high 23 points as splashed home 6 threes. Also in that contest, EA’s star player pumped in 8 points during a 31-second span of the 4th quarter.
Zach Genther Zach Genther CG Haverford | 2021 State PA – 6’4” / Senior / Haverford School / Combo Guard: Lately, the Washington College (MD) commit has been on fire from deep – 19 points (4 threess) in a victory over archrival Malvern Prep and then 13 points (3 threes) in a W over Germantown Academy. Genther capped his season with 12 points in a victory over Episcopal.
Rahdir Hicks Rahdir Hicks 6'0" | PG Malvern Prep | 2021 State PA – 6’0” / Senior / Malvern Prep / Point Guard: Hicks (Towson commit) continues to get buckets for MP. Most recently he put together a stretch of games where he scored 18 points as the Friars downed Germantown Academy and then 24 in a loss to arch rival Haverford.
Jake Hsu Jake Hsu 6'0" | PG Germantown Academy | 2022 State PA – 6’1” / Junior / Germantown Academy / Combo Guard: An excellent do-everything player for GA, this week Hsu once again proved he can play the scoring point guard role. Recently it was 17 points on four 3PM vs. Haverford (Loss) and 15 points against Penn Charter (Win) that served as evidence of that idea.
Sean “SJ” Hutchinson – 6’4” / Junior / Malvern Prep / Shooting Guard: Hutchinson scored a season high 21 points in a rout of Germantown Academy (82-64). The Philly Pride AAU standout then netted 17 against Haverford School, thanks to 5 three pointers made.

Jordan Longino Jordan Longino 6'5" | CG Germantown Academy | 2021 State #67 Nation PA – 6’1” / Senior / Germantown Academy / Combo Guard: This week Longino (Villanova commit) continued to add to his trophy case when passed Alvin Williams (Villanova / Toronto Raptors) to become the all-time leading scorer in GA history. Unfortunately Longino’s 26 point were not enough for the Patriots to get a win over Malvern Prep. Longino finished the season off with 12 points in a loss Haverford and then 20 in a win over Penn Charter.
Kevin McCarthy – 6’2” / Freshman / Episcopal Academy / Wing: If there is a freshman playing in suburban Philadelphia who is hotter from deep of late then McCarthy, we haven’t heard about him. This week, he posted a then-career-high 17 points (5 threes) in a disappointing loss to SCHA. In the rematch with SCHA, McCarthy established a new career high of 18 points (4 threes) and helped EA get their first win of the season. He ended the 2020-21 season with games of 17 (4 threes) and 15 points (3 threes).
Trey Shinholster Trey Shinholster 6'2" | SG William Penn Charter | 2023 State PA – 6’1” / Sophomore / Penn Charter / Combo Guard: A very exciting Class of 2023 prospect for Penn Charter, Shinholster began his week with 10 points in a win over Episcopal. He then tallied 15 points in the rematch with EA. Shinholster ended the week and PC’s very short 2020-21 season (only 4 games) with an impressive 18 points (3 threes) vs. Germantown Academy.
Casey Traina Casey Traina 6'3" | CG Germantown Academy | 2022 State PA – 6’3” / Junior / Germantown Academy / Wing: One of the top shooting guards in Pennsylvania’s Class of 2022, Traina’s has been a consistent scoring wing to go alongside GA’s backcourt duo of Jordan Longino Jordan Longino 6'5" | CG Germantown Academy | 2021 State #67 Nation PA and Jake Hsu Jake Hsu 6'0" | PG Germantown Academy | 2022 State PA .
