The most recent of those was the weekend of 2/6 and the event featured a lot of top CA talent. Here’s a look at some of the top standouts from the event.
1. Kosy Akametu – King/Drew 2021
Akametu is one of the more underrated wing prospects in SoCal. He can handle the ball and he’s got the ability to make plays off the dribble. He can break down the defense and get to the rim off dribble penetration. He can also shoot from three-point range. Very athletic and plays with a lot of energy. He’s a good defensive player on the wings; he uses his length well and he has quick hands.
2. Allen Mukeba – Golden State Prep 2021
Mukeba has good size and length. He’s a bit of a combo forward who can play on the wings and play in the paint. Solid guard-like skills. He’s aggressive and looks for his shot, doesn’t hesitate with the ball in his hands. He’s a good rebounder who boxes out and uses his size to fight on the glass. He runs the floor well and he’s solid in transition as a finisher on the break. Can shoot a bit from outside too.
3. Kamren Williams – Santa Fe 2021
Williams is a solid point guard; everything you want in a floor leader. He doesn’t force anything, he plays within his game and within the team system. He pushes the pace well and he can hit the open teammate on the break. Solid off the dribble game; he can create for himself or his teammates in the half court. He’s a good defensive player who applies strong pressure on the ball-handler. Good motor.
4. Sidy Diallo – St Paul 2022
Diallo is still a little bit raw, but his talent is clearly there. He has good hands and is a good finisher at the rim. When he catches the ball in the paint, he keeps it high and doesn’t bring it down to allow the defense to stop him. Uses his size and length well to finish through contact. He has a nice little turnaround jumper when he’s in the post. He’s a good rebounder as well.
