The most recent of those was the weekend of 2/6 and the event featured a lot of top CA talent. Here’s a look at some of the top standouts from the event.
1. Dowon Kim – Beckman 2022
Kim is a quick guard with a strong off the dribble game. He gets to the rim and he can draw contact to get himself to the free-throw line. He can finish through contact against bigger defenders. Good shooter off the dribble who can hit little pull-up jumpers around the paint. He’s a crafty ball-handler who can break down defenses. Good shooter from both midrange and the three-point line.
2. James Pak – Culver City 2021
Pak is a strong shooter from the outside, especially the corner three. He’s a good catch and shoot player and he’s near automatic from deep if he gets an open look. He’s got deep range beyond the standard three-point line and he can shoot with defenders closing out on him. He’s got a very quick release with good shooting mechanics and moves very well without the ball to get open.
3. Nolan Rice – St. Bonaventure 2021
An unsigned senior, Rice is a good wing prospect. Fluid on the perimeter and he can knock down pull-up jumpers off the dribble. Looks comfortable with the ball in his hands and making plays to get scoring opportunities. He can shoot from the outside or he can put the ball on the floor and get to the rim. Good catch and shoot player who can move without the ball.
