The most recent of those was this past weekend and the event featured a lot of top CA talent. Here’s a look at some of the top standouts from the event.
1. Ariel Bland – Golden State Prep 2021
Bland has good size and can play both on the wing or in the post. He’s active around the rim, has good hands and can finish strong in the paint. He can also handle the ball a little bit. Has to get a bit better at handling defensive pressure when dribbling but he can make plays off the dribble. He can also shoot from three-point range. He’s got a good motor and makes a lot of hustle plays.
2. Tre White Tre White 6'5" | SF Prolific Prep | 2022 #95 Nation CA-S – Ribet Academy 2022
White is one of the most intriguing prospects in SoCal and he certainly looked like it at the showcase. He’s a natural wing with the ability to create his own shot. He puts a lot of pressure on the defense with dribble penetration. Very comfortable with the ball in his hands and getting to the rim. He’s crafty and athletic around the rim and can finish through contact. Can shoot too from the midrange and from distance.
3. Omarion Shackelford – Morningside 2021
Shackelford is a slashing guard with a quick first step. He’s very athletic and he can get to the rim with ease. Strong in transition as a ball-handler and finisher. Uses his length to finish over the defense in the paint and he can score through contact. He can also score from the perimeter. He can shoot well from midrange and from three-point range. Moves well without the ball; active around the rim catching lobs.
4. Kaden Kent – Los Alamitos 2022
Kent is a quick little guard. He’s a strong ball-handler and he is very unselfish. He keeps the ball moving offensively. He can score and he’s fearless despite being smaller than most other players. He’s got a nice shot off the dribble and he’s a solid three-point shooter. He can break down the defense and get into the lane. He’s got a nice little floater to finish over bigger defenders.
