Christian Still – Dayspring Christian Academy
Still is a 6’4 wing that knows how to put the ball in the basket, and sometimes it’s just that simple. Still is averaging an impressive 24.3 points and is very active on the boards at 8.5 rebounds a game. He takes pride in getting others involved (3.8 apg) and locking down defenders (3.0 spg). Still is an all-around player that should be on people’s watch lists, and if his team was winning, it would be discussed more.
Ben McCurdy – Colorado Springs School
McCurdy is 5th in scoring in all of 2A as he is averaging 21 points a game. The Kodiaks are at 2-2 on the season, and he is the only player that is averaging in double figures. Colorado Springs School will need others to step up around the 6’2 combo guard as he has been able to get himself going and put his team in positions to score each night out. McCurdy made a huge jump from junior to senior year, and hopefully, he can maintain his big scoring night.
Ben Buhler – Denver Christian
Denver Christian is the No.4 team in 2A right now, and the biggest reason for that is their 6’4 wing that provides versatility on both ends of the floor. Buhler is a natural scorer with great instincts, and it helps that he has great size and skill to go along with it. In games that Buhler has played well, the Thunder have cruised, and it makes sense with him being the team’s best player and focal point for opposing teams. Buhler is at 18.8 points a game and is doing everything that he can to translate to wins as the hunted.
Gage Basey – Lyons
Lyons is 4-2 on the season, but their junior wing has been why they have gained some momentum and have things to look forward to. Lyons is a team that will be a tough matchup for teams by season’s end as they have a talented 6’4 wing in Basey that knows how to put the ball in the basket. Basey made jumps from his junior season to having a career year as a junior. Things are slowly coming together for him but when it does – watch out. He is a wing to watch in the conference.
Colby Roberts – Swallows Chart
Roberts is a 6’2 wing that can also put the ball on the floor, shoot it a bit, and also rebounds amongst the tree. Roberts can play and defend multiple positions, and the way that he has begun the season has his team off to a 3-1 start. Roberts is averaging a balanced stat line of 16.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 3.8 steals a game. He is the team’s best scorer and defensive stopper, and when you have a captain that leads by example, it is easy to see why Swallows Chart is off to a great start.
