Matchup: Elko V Chosen Few
Date: December 20th, 2020
Location: St, George Utah
Standouts:
Elko: Sean Klekas Sean Klekas 6'0" | PG Elko | 2021 State NV 6’0 PG 2021 (#97PHN 2021) – I saw something new out of him in this game. He was able to get to the hole off the dribble effectively and showed a good ability to knock down shots off the bounce. He’s a high IQ, big-time fundamental player evident by this excellent play execution here.
Chosen Few: Jamison McCall Jamison McCall 6'0" | CG Spring Valley | 2024 State NV 6’0 PG The Chosen Few 2024 – You are what you repeatedly do, and I repeatedly have seen McCall make jumpers. He is steadily improving his ability to score with the ball in his hands, and despite being one of the youngest players on the floor, held his own against an experienced well-disciplined squad.
Glue Guy: Brigs Johnson Brigs Johnson 6'0" | PF Elko | 2021 State NV 6’0 PF Elko 2021 – In a normal year, Johnson would be battling for my all glue guy honors. He was the same in this game as he has been in every game I’ve watched him play, a warrior. Johnson scrapped clawed and defended, doing the little things to help Elko secure a victory.
Eye Opening Performance: Chris Charles Chris Charles 6'2" | SF Spring Valley | 2022 State NV 6’2 SF Chosen Few 2022 – I was not familiar with Charles before turning on the tape, he literally jumped off the film. A long rangy forward, Charles was active all game. He went after rebounds aggressively displaying a good second jump.
Top R&J Athlete: LJ Mercurius LJ Mercurius 6'3" | SF Faith Lutheran | 2023 State NV 6’3 SG The Chosen Few 2023 – He’s definitely bouncy. Mercurius impacted the game with his athletic ability, keeping plays alive and defending a variety of positions.
Top Prospect: Michael Klekas Michael Klekas 6'3" | SF Elko | 2022 State NV 6’3 SF Elko 2022 (#9PHN 2022) – He showed why he’s such a tough cover in this game. If you don’t put size on him, he can bully you on the block. If you put a big on him, he has the ability to use his skill to drag them away from the basket. He finishes equally well with both hands around the rim.
