The list of ranked seniors expanded to 160-plus in this latest edition with quite a few newcomers being added. In this overview article, we will take a look at some of Louisiana’s rankings newcomers.
#12 | Shaun Riley Shaun Riley 6'7" | PF Anacoco | 2021 State LA | 6’7″ F | Anacoco
The Illinois-product moved into the state an instantly became an asset to his new team at Anacoco. Riley erases shots at the rim and is very agile when it comes to defending other players on the floor. He runs the floor very well also and finishes above the room with regularity. His addition has Anacoco at the top of class B. We will see if his addition brings them a championship.
#22 | Tawasky Johnson Tawasky Johnson 6'0" | PG Port Allen | 2021 State LA | 6’1″ G | Port Allen
Johnson has been one of the best point guards in the state over the last three years. He has been the Pels primary facilitator during the last two championship runs and has done the same this season. Johnson is a good passer but can play off the ball and score if necessary. His ability to get in the paint is what sets him apart from others. A school needing a point at the next level would do well by recruiting him.
#63 | Travis Zeno Travis Zeno 5'10" | PG Franklin | 2021 State LA | 5’10″ G | Franklin
Zeno is a newcomer to the rankings but he is definitely not a newcomer to the game. While he has the ability to play on or off the ball, his best traits are shown when he is in command of the offense. Zeno knows how to break his man down to penetrate. He finds cutters and makes difficult passes look easy. He may not land in one of the higher divisions but he will make a great guard wherever he ends up.
#75 | Kameryn Robertson Kameryn Robertson 6'2" | SG Southside | 2021 State LA | 6’2″ G | Southside
The high flying guard from Southside has worked hard to get on the basketball floor. Since he has been there, he has done nothing but amaze his coach and the opposition. Robertson does have his share of dunk highlights but he can also score it from the mid-range as well. He has some serious playmaking ability and will look to channel that into an opportunity for a play at the next level.
#76 | Kaleb Raven Kaleb Raven 6'5" | SF Wossman | 2021 State LA | 6’4″ W | Wossman
This Wildcat wing is one of the more versatile seniors in the 2021 class. While he does a lot of his best work on the block, he can get it done from the perimeter as well. When he is given space, he will drain a jumper to make the other team pay. Raven can improve on taking guys off the dribble. However, if a defender is on his back, more than likely he is scoring.
#91 | Michael Coleman Michael Coleman 6'4" | SF St. Augustine | 2021 State LA | 6’4″ W | St. Augustine
Coleman is a similar player to the guy right above him. He can step out on the perimeter and do some damage from the mid-range and behind the arc. However, the block is where is hurts defenses. Coleman has a strong upper body and can finish through various amounts of contact. Look for Coleman to be a force on the block when the St. Augustine begins their playoff march.
#99 | Kiondric Woodley Kiondric Woodley 6'1" | CG Mansfield | 2021 State LA | 6’1″ G | Mansfield
The Wolverine guard can play both guard positions and he is really good playing with the ball in his hands. He can go left or right and is very crafty when he attacks the rim. Woodley is also good in pushing the ball up the floor after rebounds. When he is off the ball, he is capable of spotting up especially in the corners. Woodley has good combo guard skills and would be an asset on the next level.
#100 | Artavious Washington Artavious Washington 5'10" | PG Southwood | 2021 State LA | 5’10″ G | Southwood
Washington is a guard that can cause any ballhandler fits with his defense. He plays an aggressive style of man-to-man and closes space creating ball pressure at a high level. Artavious can create many runs on his own just by his effort. A next level coach who enjoys players who will defend should be fond of the idea of bringing in this guy.
#109 | James Ross James Ross 5'10" | PG Ouachita Parish | 2021 State LA | 5’10″ G | Ouachita
Ross was the only junior who got big minutes last year for Coach Madison. This year, he is the team leader and shows that attitude on both ends of the floor. When they defend as a team, Ross is usually the player defending the point guard and causing him to turn the ball over. Ross can shoot the cover off of the ball when hot. He is a true leader on the court and will be an asset to a program next year.
#118 | Jyrell McClendon Jyrell McClendon 6'6" | PF Benton | 2021 State LA | 6’6″ F | Benton
McClendon was an easy pick to add to the rankings. He has been a solid contributor to the Tiger lineup since he became one his sophomore season. McClendon is a banger in the paint and rebounds the ball well on both ends of the floor. His ability to hit the short mid-range jumper makes him effective inside the arc and especially around the elbows. With his level of contribution, McClendon can only aid a team.
