The event which featured over 17 total teams offered an opportunity for players to get long overdue exposure. The event was broken up into two days, Saturday was more grassroots-focused, while Sunday was for the H.S programs. In this article, we take a look at some of the players that stood out on Sunday.
Cameron Kimble Cameron Kimble 6'4" | SG Clark | 2021 State NV 6’5 SG Verdict 2021 (#9PHN 2021) (featured image) – The hunger in Kimble looked different today. Usually, you expect a player of his caliber to go through the motions in an event like this, not Kimble He did everything, including taking charges, bullying his way to the bucket and knocking down 3’s. He was dominant on the day.
Michael Klekas Michael Klekas 6'3" | SF Elko | 2022 State NV 6’3 SF Eklo 2022 (#9PHN 2022) – Klekas isn’t that tall, he’s not exceptionally fast and he isn’t athletic. What he is, is a player that simply knows how to put the ball in the bucket. He used ball fakes, foot fakes, and head fakes, to move defenders all over the court, as Klekas calmly knocked down shots. He’s a special talent that understands how to score the basketball at a high level.
Alijah Adem Alijah Adem 6'2" | PG Spring Valley | 2024 State #174 Nation NV 6’0 PG Chosen Few 2024 (#7PHN 2024) – The freshmen PG was good. You can now start talking about him as one of the tough shot makers in the state. His handle looked tight and he had no problem separating himself from defenders. Perhaps his most impressive performance was his 24 point game against Team Rogue.
Xakime Milton Xakime Milton 5'8" | PG Centennial | 2021 State NV 5’7 PG LVXF 2021 (#52PHN 2021) – Milton has spent the last couple of months on the Grind Session, so it was no surprise that he felt comfortable on Sunday. The PG was a blur, consistently using his speed to change ends at a breakneck pace. What I noticed about him was the fact that he did everything with explosiveness, whether performing a defensive slide or blowing by a defender.
Coleman Lemke Coleman Lemke 6'7" | PF Faith Lutheran | 2021 State NV 6’8 PF Team Rogue 2021 (#19PHN 2021) – Lemke quietly shot the ball at a high level. It sounds strange to say about a 6’8 sharpshooter, but he shoots it so quickly and effortlessly that you sometimes take his shooting for granted. That’s not happening today, as he was a stud and validated why he is a D1 player. The event felt like a culmination of 4 years of hard work for the stretch 4 man.
