This month’s Cedar City Showcase takes place Saturday and Sunday, February 20th and 21st in Cedar City Utah. The event features 16 club teams from around the state of Nevada and offers a fabulous opportunity for the players to gain exposure. Every player participating in this event will be evaluated for the upcoming PrepHoops Rankings. In this article, we take a look at some of the key players to watch this weekend.
Kobe Kelley Kobe Kelley 5'10" | PG Lincoln Co | 2021 State NV 5’9 PG Redcats 2023 (#87PHN 2021) – I got a glimpse of Kelley last weekend and I liked what I saw. It will be a step up in competition for him, but he has the kind of Moxie, to accept and thrive with the challenge. Kelley is a knockdown shooter, unafraid to take the ball hard to the bucket. He will definitely be a player to keep a close eye on this weekend.
Alijah Adem Alijah Adem 6'2" | PG Spring Valley | 2024 State #174 Nation NV 6’2 PG Chosen Few 2024 (#7PHN 2024) – There used to be a time when I saw Adem play almost every week, however that’s changed. I don’t get to see the young PG nearly as much as I like, so I’m excited to watch him this weekend. He’ll be the focal point of a deep and talented Chosen Few squad. Adem has always had a nice handle, and advanced ability to shoot off the dribble, now I want to see what areas of his game he’s improved in.
Coleman Lemke Coleman Lemke 6'7" | PF Faith Lutheran | 2021 State NV 6’7 PF Team Rogue 2021 (#19PHN 2021) – It’s difficult to figure out what position Lemke is, what I do know is that he is a shooter and D1 player. The Eastern Washington commit comes to town with an experienced Team Rogue squad. The last few times I’ve seen him play, he has shoot the ball lights out. Repeat those performances and TR should walk away with a few victories on the weekend.
Damion Byrd Damion Byrd 5'10" | PG Silverado | 2022 State NV 5’11 PG OTTG/Dig 2021 (#12PHN 2022) (featured image) – Double duty this weekend for Byrd. It probably doesn’t matter at all to Byrd though, as nothing seems to faze him on the court. One of the top high academic players in the state, it will be great seeing him at the helm of an experienced OTTG team and a fast and athletic DIG squad.
Craig Comanche Craig Comanche 6'1" | CG Cheyenne | 2021 State NV 6’1 CG LVXF 2021 (#33PHN 2021) – So excited to watch Comanche play. One of the best two-way guards in the state, the 6’1 combo has the kind of speed and athleticism to be dominant in a game setting. He’s quick enough to get out in passing lanes and loves to use his patent spin move on drives to the hole. Really good to see how he stacks up against some of the top guards in the event.
