One of them is the fact that players left the state to play in other areas and are now back. When we did our January rankings update for 2021, 2022, and 2023 those prospects were taken out.
Now many of them are back playing and will be placed in the rankings in our post season update. We wanted to make sure college coaches and fans are aware they are playing in Illinois and have them on their radars. Here are our Back in State…Return to Rankings!
Amar Augillard (Zion Benton – 2021)
Projected Ranking: #13 – #16
Projected Level: LM+/MM-
Augillard was a top 15 prospect in the state of Illinois before he briefly left to play at a prep school in Florida. What he brings to the table is extreme physicality. Power wing that bullies his way through opponents, but has really improved his perimeter game shooting it at a high clip. Tough rebounder that gets after it on defense being able to defend threes and fours. Very under valued prospect on the recruiting trail.
Kai Evans (Bolingbrook – 2021)
Projected Ranking: #18 – #20
Projected Level: LM+
Evans is another strong bodied wing that was originally going to go out west to play his senior campaign, but stayed home and it paid off as he is now the go to player for Bolingbrook. We saw him early in the season and he has been impressive with his ability to attack downhill with force, shows range on his jumper, and checks multiple wing spots defensively. Low-majors should be all over him!
Noah Reynolds (Peoria Notre Dame -2021)
Projected Ranking: #23 – #28
Projected Level: LM
Reynolds was going to play in Indiana, but he and his brother were not cleared so he stuck at PND and with the season back on is the leader of central Illinois’ top squad. The senior left handed guard is a crafty floor general that brings crisp passing and shot making to the table. Also very adept at making acrobatic layups at the cup. Low-majors need to be on him heavily.
Sean Burress (Thornton – 2021)
Projected Ranking: #50 – #65
Projected Level: D2
Burress is another prospect that went across the border in Indiana. He is back at Thornton for his senior campaign. Sharp shooting point guard that can really fill it up from beyond the arc. Brings quickness in the open floor along with defensive tenacity at the point of attack.
Nelson Reynolds (Peoria Notre Dame – 2022)
Projected Ranking: Top 60
The younger of the Reynolds brothers was very impressive in their recent game we evaluated. Nelson drilled the game winner with just seconds to go. Plus jump shot that he shoots with a ton of confidence. His overall floor game is rounding into shape and is primed for a big spring!
Wilfred Kamukama (Huntley – 2023)
Projected Ranking: Top 30
This sophomore jumped on our radar at the Pangos Camp back in the fall. It looked like he was going to go out west, but is back at Huntley. Not getting much tick on the varsity level, but with his physical size and tools is one to definitely track closely as he will be running with Meanstreets this summer. Well-built prospect with a physical frame that finishes around the hoop. Can handle it a little in the open floor.
