The battle for the top of the conference has been a bitter fight all season and a couple of teams are beginning to look like true title contenders. Additionally, some ridiculous stat lines have begun to pop up across the Treasure Valley with a lot of players showing they deserve a higher spot in the player rankings as well as showing why they should be playing at the next level. Continue reading for a look at some recent 5A SIC games as well as some excellent personal performances.
Meridian vs. Boise: In a matchup of two of the oldest high schools in the area, Meridian and Boise faced off in a 5A SIC battle. Meridian asserted their dominance early and did not let up for the rest of the game. Boise struggled for the majority of the game with matchup issues and could not keep up with the high tempo Meridian offense as well as a barrage of three’s. Boise never seemed to find their footing throughout the game and Meridian looked polished and hungry for a state championship this season. Meridian was led by a stellar 32 point and 5 rebound performance from Joe Mpoyo Joe Mpoyo 6'4" | SG Meridian | 2021 State ID as well as 14 points and 11 rebounds from Brody Rowbury Brody Rowbury 6'11" | C Meridian | 2021 State ID . Boise got most of their spark from a 17 point night by Whit Miller Whit Miller 6'2" | SG Boise | 2021 State ID .
Rocky Mountain vs. Timberline: Rocky Mountain secured a 5A SIC victory over Timberline in a close game recently. A fairly low scaring affair, Timberline struggled to get any sort of lead over Rocky Mountain on their way to a 7 point loss. Rocky held their lead the majority of the game and they did a great job of holding their lead as they finished out the end of the game in full control. Rocky Mountain was led by a 17 point, 8 rebound game from Drew Fielder and Timberline was led by Cooper Lumsden Cooper Lumsden 6'3" | SG Timberline | 2021 State ID scoring 19 points and dishing out 4 assists.
