Trey Summers Trey Summers 5'9" | CG Union Colony Preparatory School | 2021 State CO – Union Colony Prep
Summers is the 2A player that got on the scene this summer as he joined a known AAU squad that played against top talent and made it a point to be seen. He impressed then and proved that he belongs, no matter the class, and now he is dominating for yet another season. Summers is averaging a state-high 30 points a game while also grabbing 10.8 boards to go along with it. He is a natural scorer with a great feel for the game, knows that it is on him to take the shots, and he feels comfortable being the go-to guy. Summers is the real deal, and others are starting to notice the senior guard that has carved out an incredible season. He’s certainly the player to watch in 2A.
Tucker Mills Tucker Mills 6'4" | CG Lyons | 2022 State CO – Lyons
Mills is only a sophomore but has a great feel for the game and knows what is expected of him. Mills is Lyons’ leading scorer, and on a team that is so young is the captain that the team looks up to. Mills scores in bunches uses his size and athleticism to get advantages, and cannot be contained inside. He makes it a point to get downhill, and opposing teams have him circled as the player to slow down each time out.
Seattle Schuessler – Clear Creek
Cool name, big game. Seattle is a baller. Seattle is having a sensational senior season, and the wins are coming along with it. As long as his team progresses with him, that will be a team to watch when it is all said and done as through five games; their senior guard has made one of the biggest jumps in the state. Seattle went from 11 points a game as a junior to currently at 20 points a game. He has also doubled his rebounding at 8.6 boards a game, plays the passing lanes well with 4.8 steals a game, and makes it a point to make smart-reads that put teammates in the right places. Schuessler is why Clear Creek is 4-2 to start the season, and their lead guard is ready to show that he is a player.
Zach Seyer – Loveland Classical
Seyer has been Loveland Classical’s most consistent player this season, and on a team that only puts 42.3 points a game, he can put up 19.0 points a game, attributing to more than half of the offense when assists are factored in. He has scored double figures in every single game, and he is getting to the rim as well as the FT line. Seyer plays on and off of the ball, gets into scoring positions as soon as he touches the ball, and understands that he has to be the option. He is not afraid to turn down shows and gets up as many as it takes.
Camden Smithburg Camden Smithburg 6'0" | PG Limon | 2021 State CO – Limon
Smithburg is a player that we knew would be a standout this upcoming season as he is one of the few players at a small school that made it a point to prove that he can compete, no matter the classification. Smithburg plays with an AAU organization that goes up against the top players in the state; he has come to private workouts and proved that he belonged, and this 2A First-Team All-State member a season ago has been a consistent force for his entire four years in high school. Smithburg is in elite company as a 1,000 points scored member and is pushing for more as he has his team at 7-0 on the year, and some players on the team are still riding the 2A state football championship wave. The Badgers are one of the contending teams and will be there when it is all said and done, and with Smithburg averaging 18.2 points a game leading the way, they always have a chance. Smithburg is certainly a guard to watch in the class.
