With COVID impacting much of the past summer, most of the 2022 class has still yet to be fully evaluated in person by multiple college programs. As that class starts committing to schools, we look at some of the more underrated small forwards for the in-state class of 2022.
Chandler Jackson Chandler Jackson 6'5" | SF Warren Central | 2022 State IN (Warren Central)
Jackson is sometimes overlooked due to his wing counterpart in Louisville-commit D’Ante Davis D’Ante Davis 6'7" | SF Warren Central | 2022 State #132 Nation IN . Both playing similar positions, it’s easy for Jackson to be in the shadow of Davis.
However, Jackson is a very good all-around prospect. The 6-foot-5 wing is averaging about 11 points and 4 rebounds per game and has really raised his play of late.
He is a very solid shooter from deep and has a quick and high release on his jumper. He is versatile on both ends of the floor, allowing him to play that hybrid, small-ball 4 at times as well.
Jackson is ranked the No. 49 player in the Indiana class of 2022.
Chad Cox Chad Cox 6'4" | SF Franklin County | 2022 State IN (Franklin County)
The 6-foot-5 wing is a terrific slasher who excels with the ball in his hands.
He isn’t going to blow you away with his speed or quickness, but he does a tremendous job using his size and length to get to his spots. He excels attacking the rim and has a good midrange game as well.
Cox is averaging 20 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3 assists per game this season. He is ranked the No. 66 player in the 2022 in-state class.
Christian Nunn Christian Nunn 6'3" | SF L'anse Creuse North | 2022 State IN (Liberty Christian)
Nunn is a versatile wing who has a great frame despite being a bit undersized. At just 6-foot-3, he has a 180-pound frame and plays with a physical mindset.
He is averaging 23.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game this season and excels in the paint. He is very difficult to slow down when he is going downhill and in transition. Nunn does have a good shot, but his release is a bit slower and has a tad of a hitch at the top.
He is ranked No. 68 in Indiana’s class of 2022.
Sam Jacobs Sam Jacobs 6'4" | SF Hamilton Southeastern | 2022 State IN (Hamilton Southeastern)
Jacobs is never going to be the most athletically gifted player on the floor, but he is going to be one of the smartest and highest IQ guys. He just knows where to be and how to play.
He has good size at 6-foot-5 and adds to that with good length as well. He has the ability to stretch the floor and has good elevation on his jumper, but he is better around the rim. Jacobs is able to use screens to get open and find small openings in the opposing defense.
He is averaging a little over 10 points and 3 rebounds per game. Jacobs is ranked as the No. 73 in the in-state class of 2022.
