Devin Bilbo Devin Bilbo 6'4" | SG Airline | 2021 State LA (6’4″ / Airline / PR #93) – CR #69 (+24)
Before a season ending ankle injury, Devin was averaging a double double for the Vikings this season. He is a three sport athlete (he also plays football and runs track) who had improved his basketball skill set. Bilbo is a very good mid-range shooter and knows how to operate from both elbows and each block. He is very good in transition and is one of the better two-way players in 5A. While he will not get to finish his season, he was definitely on his way to first team 1-5A and possibly another all-state honorable mention.
D’Marcus Fugett D’Marcus Fugett 6'5" | SG JS Clark Leadership | 2021 State LA (6’5″ / JS Clark Leadership / PR #57) – CR #38 (+19)
Fugett is one of the better 3 level scorers in the senior class. He averaged 13/6/6 last season and has now taken his game to another level with his three point shooting and defense. On the defensive end, Fugett is excellent at reading passing lanes and deflecting passes. He turns a lot of steals into transitions situations for his team. Those situations also allow his passing and finishing skills to be placed on display. JS Clark has a good chance of playing in the season’s final game and Fugett is a big reason why.
Jaterrius Fusilier Jaterrius Fusilier 6'1" | CG New Iberia | 2021 State LA (6’1″ / New Iberia / PR #62) – CR #45 (+17)
Fusilier is one of the leaders of the 6th rated team in 5A on both ends of the floor. He is another two-way player who does not mind making offensive players uncomfortable when defending. Fusilier is very active and with his movement and has quick hands that frustrate people he defends. He is athletic as well so on offense he is just as capable to shoot a three in the defenders face of dunk on them. His rise to #45 was inevitable and he is one of the more intriguing guards in this senior class.
Gavin Harris Gavin Harris 6'2" | CG Walker | 2021 State LA (6’2″ / Walker / PR #55) – CR #26 (+29)
Harris had one of the largest jumps in the 2021 rankings and it is because of his athleticism and skill set. He is a blur in the open court and is one of the faster guards I have seen change ends with the ball. Harris also has a serious set of springs and may dunk on a defender at a moments notice. Gavin can play either guard position and has helped to solidify the Walker backcourt after the departure of Jalen Cook Jalen Cook 6'0" | PG Walker | 2020 State #98 Nation LA . Harris has helped Walker earn a home playoff game and may help this talented group reach another Marsh Madness.
Jayden Lazard Jayden Lazard 6'0" | CG Opelousas | 2021 State LA (6’1″ / Opelousas / PR #74) – CR #55 (+19)
Lazard is probably one of the more underrated guards in the state. While his backcourt mate may get more of the press, Lazard can go off for a 20 or 30 point game at anytime. He is another player who can play the point or the off guard and be effective at either. Lazard definitely is an important cog in the Opelousas attack and is a definite threat to attack the rim or set a teammate up as the Tigers attempt to make a run to Lake Charles.
Eric McKnight Eric McKnight 6'4" | SG Southwood | 2021 State LA (6’4″ / Southwood / PR #79) – CR #52 (+27)
McKnight has been one of the most improved players in not only 1-5A, but 5A as a whole. He has operated in the pinch post as well as each block and has learned how to score or make his way to the free throw line. In the open floor he knows how to finish and has had several occasions where he has posterized someone. He is also an athletic defender and has put time in during weight training. McKnight can compete on both ends and is capable of having special moments for the Cowboys as they move forward.
Cooper Rachow Cooper Rachow 6'3" | SG Slidell | 2021 State LA (6’3″ / Slidell / PR #98) – CR #68 (+30)
Rachow is one of the better shooters and is part of a solid tandem at Slidell. With his ability to shoot and to take players off the dribble, Rachow is a scary offensive threat. Slidell has made their way into the top 10 of class 5A and Rachow has been one of the important reasons. He will be a large part of their success and his rise in the rankings coincides with the work he has put into becoming an offensive threat.
Bryce Roberts Bryce Roberts 6'1" | CG Parkway | 2021 State LA (6’1″ / Parkway / PR #91) – CR #60 (+31)
Roberts has had the largest rise in the 2021 rankings because of the work he has put in. While he has always been a very good shooter, Bryce has embraced attacking the rim more. This has resulted in him collapsing defenses and opening up avenues for the other shooters on his team. Getting to the rim has also gained him more free throw attempts which has resulted in more 20 and 30 point performances. Roberts will compete for 1-5A MVP and will lead Parkway into the playoffs where they can make alot of noise provinding they shoot the ball well.
Dylan Slaid Dylan Slaid 5'8" | CG Benton | 2021 State LA (5’9″ / Benton / PR #92) – CR #77 (+15)
Slaid is one of the best on ball defenders we have in Louisiana. With his quickness, he is known to irritate ball handlers and other offensive players causing offensive fouls to be committed. Along with that quickness on defense, he has learned to efficiently use those tools on offense. He uses his speed to create separation for his jumper or to get by any defender. Slaid knows how to create contact and get to the line as well. If Benton makes a long run into early March, Slaid will be one of the primary reasons for it.
Kyaln Williams (6’5″ / Opelousas / PR #72) – CR #56 (+16)
Kylan is a active rebounder who rebounds the ball well for the Opelousas Tigers. He is also one of their better three point shooters. Once he makes one of two in a row, he can go off for long runs. WIlliams is part of a frontcourt that can be dominate at various times offensively or defensively. He can protect the rim and switch out on smaller guards. His versatility is one of his better traits along with his shot. Watch out for Williams making key plays as the Tigers try to win a title in class 4A.
Guys who are playing well during the season deserve to move up the rankings. Raising their profile will only increase their ability to be recruitied on various levels. Watch for these players, and other stock risers, to play big as the playoffs approach in Louisiana.
