Carter DeRocher Carter DeRocher 6'2" | SF Gehlen Catholic | 2022 State IA , Gehlen Catholic
The Jays shot 66% from the floor in their win over Woodbury Central, and DeRocher was a key piece of that performance, scoring 24 points on 7-8 shooting and going 9-12 from the free-throw line. He’s a long, athletic wing who makes an impact on both ends of the floor.
Dallas Kluender, Woodbury Central
The efficient 6-4 forward scored 22 points on 8-12 shooting in the Wildcats loss to Gehlen. He averaged 10.3 rebounds a game during the season, but had just 1 in the loss, in large part because Gehlen didn’t miss many shots.
Wyatt Helming, Lake Mills
The 6-6 wing was vital for the Bulldogs, who clawed back from an 11-point second-half deficit to beat Bishop Garrigan. Helming finished with 14 points and knocked down 3 of the ’Dogs 6 made 3-pointers.
Maddox Griffin Maddox Griffin 6'1" | PG Wapello | 2022 State IA , Wapello
Griffin, a 6-3 lead guard, was exceptional on both ends of the floor for the Indians in their double OT loss to Easton Valley. He plays with excellent pace, has a fantastic feel for the game, and is a highly-gifted passer. He finished with 16 points, 8 rebounds, 9 assists, and 7 steals in the loss, showing his all-around ability to impact the game.
Austin Jensen Austin Jensen 6'2" | PF St. Mary's, Remsen | 2022 State IA , St. Mary’s
Jensen was one of four Hawks to score in double-figures in their win over Newell-Fonda. He was highly-efficient, scoring 11 points on 5-5 shooting, to go with 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals, and a block.
Trey Kriener, South Winneshiek
The 6-7 center has become a key piece for the Warriors, and his ability to impact the game on the defensive end was front-and-center in their win over Ed-Co on Tuesday night. He blocked 4 shots to go with 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. That type of ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor at 6-7 is huge, and he’s a kid that we’re really anxious to see during the summer.
Dylan Kurt Dylan Kurt 6'3" | SF North Linn | 2022 State IA , North Linn
North Linn star Austin Hilmer Austin Hilmer 5'10" | PG North Linn | 2022 State IA had a rough shooting night, and Kurt, a 6-2 guard, really stepped up his play and helped lead the Lynx to the win over Alburnett. He had a team-high 15 points on 6-12 shooting, to go with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Kurt missed a good chunk of the season with an injury, but is back in the lineup now and making a major impact on both ends of the floor.
Eddie Burgess Eddie Burgess 6'4" | PF Montezuma | 2022 State IA , Montezuma
It’s no coincidence that Montezuma has taken off since Burgess got back into the lineup after his football injury. The 6-5 big man is a talented passer and the focal point of the Braves’ 2-3 zone. He put up 14 points, 17 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 assists as Montezuma overcame an underwhelming game from star Trey Shearer Trey Shearer 5'10" | PG Montezuma | 2021 State IA to advance to the substate final.
Caleb Parlee, Grand View Christian
Parlee has been a role player this year for the Thunder, but he led the team in scoring on Tuesday night, putting up 19 points on 9-13 shooting to go with 7 rebounds. Their game against Coon Rapids-Bayard wasn’t competitive, but Parlee played at a high-level, taking advantage of his extended minutes.
