Backcourt:
Tyler Jameau – Concord Carlisle – G – Sr.
Week Highlights: 23.5 ppg, 4 rpg, 2.5 3 pg in 2 games vs. Newton South
Despite losing both games to a talented Newton South team, Jameau did his best to carry his team to victory. A special offensive player, the senior guard, is so creative when it comes to shot-making. The gifted lefty is one of the most dangerous players in transition as he specializes in pull up three-pointers on the fast break. He is such a threat from the outside that when defenses play him tight, taking away the outside shot, he blows by you and finishes strong at the rim for layups or takes a 15-foot mid-range shot. A great pick and roll player also, Jameau always hits his big man with an accurate pass on the roll for easy offense. One of the most polished offensive players in the DCL.
Jake Lemelman Jake Lemelman 6'3" | CG MacDuffie | 2024 State NLG – Newton South – G – Fr
Week Highlights: 11 ppg, 4 rpg, 3 spg in 2 games vs. Concord-Carlisle
The Newton South freshman showed no fear in his first career games, going 6 for 6 from three! Unconscious from downtown, Lemelman added firepower to a loaded Newton South offense. He annihilated Concord-Carlisle’s 1-3-1 half-court zone by spotting up in the corner or wing and taking advantage of lazy closeouts from the defense. An encouraging sign from Lemelman was in the next game he did not have the hot hand but impacted the game on the defensive end. He had 6 steals; it is always great to see a young player give max effort on the defensive end when their shot is not falling.
Frontcourt:
Itai Alinsky – Newton South – F – Jr
Week Highlights: 19.5 ppg, 6 rpg, in 2 games vs. Concord-Carlisle
Alinsky had a great week scoring, evident by his near 20 points per game the past week, but an undervalued part of his game is his outlet passing. Not the flashiest with the ball in his hand, but he is so effective starting the fastbreak with pinpoint outlet passes to the guards to push the tempo. A pesky defender, Alinsky uses his athleticism to disrupt passes, which leads to the high-scoring Newton South transition offense. The junior forward overwhelmed Concord-Carlisle with his size and athleticism, and it opened up shot opportunities for the other players. Alinsky loves rim running, and he would suck in the defense to him inside, leading to bare open looks from the three for the Tigers.
Bobby Sweet – Acton Boxboro – G/F – Sr
Bobby Sweet started his senior campaign leading his team in scoring and a double-digit win vs. Lincoln Sudbury. He’s listed as a guard, but I do not see a problem with him playing in the frontcourt if you wanted to throw out a small-ball lineup. His aggressiveness on defense and his active hands make it easy for a coach to trust him on the court even if he does not have the size advantage. Acton Boxboro is a team that likes to press, and that is where Sweet does most of his damage. He gets a lot of deflections and is an excellent rebounder for his size. If he can continue to score at a consistent rate, he will have a great all-around season.
Jordan Corbett – Concord Carlisle – F – Sr
Highlight Game: 10 pts, 8 rebs, 1 stl, 1 blk, vs. Newton South
The senior big man showed double-double potential last week against Newton South. Corbett did a great job controlling the middle in Concord-Carlisle’s 2-3 zone. His 1 blocked shot came from the help side and showed off his great defensive awareness and athleticism. Corbett is comfortable shooting threes, which complement Tyler Jameau’s game. Such a physical presence at 6’2’’, 225 Ibs; he will be hard to keep off the boards and provides some post scoring as well.
