A springy late blooming forward, Donte Colton is worth some looks at the lower levels. He’s a wiry shot blocker that protects the rim extremely well. He has an exceptional wingspan and plays with energy in the paint. Colton is a threat for putback dunks and can impact games without needing to have set plays called for him. In a loss to East Coweta he tallied 6 points, 7 rebounds, 1 steal and 7 blocks.
2022 6-1 CG Eric Smarr – Newnan
Eric Smarr is instant offense off the bench. He hunts his shot and provides toughness and effort. Smarr has a strong body and likes to attack the lane with his southpaw maneuvering. His aggressive nature makes him a solid rebounder. In the press, Smarr uses active hands to pick up steals.
2022 6-3 SG Sammy Moss Sammy Moss 6'3" | SG East Coweta | 2022 State GA – East Coweta
Sammy is near the top of his class as far as transition players that are able to get downhill. The lefty is a great athlete that uses a quick first step to beat his man off the dribble. Once inside, he elevates over the defense for uncontested looks. His leaping ability helped change the game in a 61-54 win over Newnan. Moss would consistently outleap opponents to grab offensive rebounds and power back up for put-backs. He’s still a streaky three-point shooter, but he did net a few mid-range pull-ups in his 21-point, 10-rebound and 2-steal performance.
2022 6-7 PF Delrecco Gillespie – East Coweta
The mid-season Michigan transfer is a difference maker. He knows how to score around the rim. Gillespie has good moves inside, liking to spin to get to his right hand. He finishes through contact using his shoulders well to angle himself. He’s still growing into his body. Even with strong post moves he’s still not as agile as some other D-I posts, but he’s extremely effective. Delrecco even attacked off the dribble when needed and could get to the basket from the mid-range. He’s a solid prospect that already holds and Eastern Michigan offer. He tallied 12 points, 13 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block.
2021 6-2 W Gilbert Croley – East Coweta
Gilbert Croley rarely gets the headlines but he’s an invaluable piece. He’s a slashing wing that always plays with tremendous energy and a nose for the ball. He can guard multiple positions. He loves battling on the glass and plays bigger than his size. On offense he showed off a nice turnaround out of the low post. He finished with 13 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. I think Croley could be a very nice pick up at the right level. His motor translates.
