Updated 2023 Rankings Overview

Here’s a broad overview of our updated rankings for the class of 2023, taking a look at some of the trends we’ve seen so far. This refresh includes an increase from 50 to 65 players. Stay tuned for more in-depth breakdown content covering this class throughout the upcoming week.

STABILITY AT THE TOP

FIVE STOCK RISERS

#10 | Marcel GardnerMarcelGardner6'9" | CSt. Andrew's | 2023StateMD | St. Andrew’s | Previous Rank: #21

Gardner has rapidly improved since his freshman season and is still just scratching the surface. One thing he’s doing now that he wasn’t doing then is shooting the three-ball. At 6-foot-9, Gardner’s defense around the rim is his main selling point but his expanding offensive repertoire is something to monitor.

Russell gained valuable experience during his freshman year and should be ready to take the next step whenever play does resume in the MAC. He’s a workhorse who plays a physical brand of basketball. Russell still has a ways to go offensively but at this point, he can get easy buckets because he always runs the floor with purpose.

Elston was probably B-CC’s best player as a freshman and it doesn’t take long to realize why. He’s got the body of upperclassmen and does a bit of everything well. Elston is a potent scorer from multiple spots on the floor and a competent, versatile defendender.

Vick is a dynamic frontcourt presence who plays above the rim on both ends. His current productivity level is impressive given the fact that he’s still improving every day.

Boggs is a big, athletic guard who competes defensively. He can guard a few different positions and is strong at the point of attack. We saw Boggs have some big games this summer because of his attention to detail on defense.
