Cesar Tchilombo Cesar Tchilombo 6'8" | C John Carroll | 2022 MD | 6’8 | John Carroll
Overall ranking: No. 19
Positional ranking: No. 3
Tchilombo had the opportunity to get some run this summer with Global Squad and showed some continued signs of improvement. The 6-foot-8 center got off to a dominant start defensively during his junior season and although he eventually leveled out, it showed his potential to be an elite rim protector. Tchilombo has a consistent over the shoulder hook when operating on the left block. His face-up game continues to develop as he gets more comfortable putting the ball on the deck one or two times. A reliable rebounder outside of his area, Tchilombo is an effective communicator and can act as the anchor of a defense.
Dani Dennis-Sutton Dani Dennis-Sutton 6'6" | C McDonogh | 2022 MD | 6’6 | McDonogh
Overall ranking: No. 42
Positional ranking: No. 8
Dennis-Sutton is the definition of a bruising big man. He’s regarded as a top defensive end in the country, so physicality is his middle name. When he has to guard taller bigs, he uses his strength and leverage to deny any position inside. Dennis-Sutton is a vicious rebounder who can quickly locate the outletting guard to spark a transition opportunity. Offensively he plays well off other’s penetration where he displays soft hands on catches and ability to finish around the rim. Most importantly for today’s game, Dennis-Sutton is a brick wall when it comes to setting ball screens.
Adam Walden Adam Walden 6'9" | C Baltimore Polytechnic | 2022 MD | 6’9 | Poly
Overall ranking: No. 49
Positional ranking: No. 11
I recently saw Walden in action against the Baltimore Panthers and it was by far the best I’ve seen him play a high school game. The 6-foot-9 center was an absolute eraser around the rim and finished around the rim with power and tenacity that many have been waiting for. Sometimes a player that struggles with confidence needs a game like he had, so we’ll see if he can use it as a springboard for the future. He has great size for his position and the potential is evident. With Walden it’s more about confidence and developing a mean streak to fill out said potential.
Joel Turay Joel Turay 6'7" | C John Carroll | 2022 State MD | 6’7 | John Carroll
Overall ranking: No. 54
Positional ranking: No. 12
Turay is a big-body 6-foot-7 center who split time with Tchilombo last season, which was his first in America. The pace and style of play were certainly a challenge for Turay to adjust to, but eventually he started to settle into his role as a dependable rebounder and rim-running big. I was looking forward to see his progress this season, but the chances of that look slim. More times than not, when players come to the U.S. from other countries, you really start to see overall progression after the first full calendar year.
