Ian Wallace Ian Wallace 6'5" | PF Mt. Zion Prep | 2021 State MD | 6’7 | Mt. Zion Prep
Overall ranking: No. 43
Positional ranking: No. 6
While the Warriors play their games a little south of Baltimore, Wallace is still considered a Baltimore prospect given the fact he spent all four years of his high school career at Poly. Now in a post-grad prep year, Wallace has fit into his role nicely as a wing/forward who can stretch the floor. What I’ve noticed most about Wallace is his improved toughness and willingness to do the little things. At Poly surrounded by a slew of high-major prospects, Wallace’s role offensively was to spread the floor by hitting catch-and-shoot three’s. While he still is expected to do that at Mt. Zion, those shots don’t come as often, so crashing the offensive glass has been a calling card. Defensively Wallace can guard wings and fours with his athleticism, size and length. His aggression as a rebounder has flourished on that end of the floor as well.
Cam Smith Cam Smith 6'7" | PF Loyola | 2021 State MD | 6’7 | Loyola
Overall ranking: No. 44
Positional ranking: No. 7
Smith played this summer with a talented New World team and had some moments that indicated he was finally tapping into his potential. He has a great frame at 6-foot-7 to go with explosive athleticism that allows him to make plays above the rim on both ends. Smith plays with great energy and runs the floor consistently. The one area that he needs to grow is overall IQ. Smith has a tendency of putting his head down on drives and not seeing the weakside help rotating over for charges. As he learns how to play with better pace and gets more in-game reps, I believe Smith could be a very intriguing prospect.
Sean Carr Sean Carr 6'6" | PF Mount St. Joseph | 2021 State MD | 6’6 | Mount St. Joseph
Overall ranking: No. 65
Positional ranking: No. 9
If there’s some sort of high school season this winter, Carr has a chance to improve his ranking with the increased role he’s expected to take on with the Gaels. I’m not one that puts a lot of stock into workout videos, but one thing you can determine with Carr’s is that his athleticism has improved dramatically. Giving him the ability to finish above the rim adds significant value when evaluating him for the next level. He’s already a physical and willing defender who prides himself on controlling the glass. He makes sound decisions with the ball as a swingman at the top of the key and has potential to hit the mid-range shot consistently.
Malik Missouri Malik Missouri 6'5" | PF Gilman | 2021 State MD | 6’5 | Gilman
Overall ranking: No. 107
Positional ranking: No. 16
Missouri has battled through a high school career with some nagging injuries, but he still offers a valuable skillset for his position at the college level. He poses good size at 6-foot-5 with a long wingspan to help him defend bigger matchups. Missouri can knock down mid-range jumpers routinely and has been a capable option from beyond the arc in the corners. Most importantly, Missouri is a coachable player and a great teammate that will instantly help the locker room of any program he chooses. Areas that Missouri will have to improve in include his lateral quickness (which should come once he gets into a lifting and conditioning program) and confidence. When Missouri is playing with confidence, you see parts of his game surface that you didn’t know were there. He’s capable of playing with that energy and ability consistently. Unlocking that will be key.
