RJ Smith RJ Smith 6'4" | CG Damien | 2022 State CA-S , Damien (CA) – We have Smith as a highly-regarded prospect in SoCal’s 2022 class, but his college recruitment isn’t quite where we expected it to be at this point. The 6-foot-4 wing is an elite defender with all the leadership and intangibles you look for in a player from toughness and energy to being a fantastic rebounder on both the offensive and defensive ends for his position. Smith has improved his jump shooting, ball handling and ability to create shots for himself and others off the bounce and should be on the radar of local and west coast Division I programs.
Oakland Fort, Sunnyslope (AZ) – Fort is a no-nonsense point guard who does a nice job of balancing scoring, distributing and controlling the pace of a game. The 5-foot-10 junior has a strong frame, great speed in the open court, and uses those tools to get into the paint and finish through contact, draw fouls, or force the defense to collapse and find open shooters or big men. Which ever college programs ends up with Fort on its roster is getting a high level competitor.
Devin Day, Modesto Christian (CA) – The 6-foot-3 guard is well-known as a knockdown shooter who strokes the perimeter jumper both off the catch and off the bounce with consistency from multiple levels and spots behind the arc. Day is beginning to evolve into more than the “just a shooter” tag as his vertical athleticism and speed are becoming more dynamic, making him a threat to score in the painted area in the transition and half-court settings. Day has gotten plenty of Division I schools to inquire about him and will likely see his stock rise once California teams are able to get back on the floor.
Donovan Dent Donovan Dent 6'1" | PG Corona Centennial | 2022 State CA-S , Corona Centennial (CA) – The 6-foot-1 point guard received his first Division I offer from Long Beach State recently, and if we had a normal season here in SoCal, it wouldn’t surprise me if he had multiple D1 programs knocking on his door. Dent is the ultimate competitor who plays with a high motor and IQ on both ends of the floor. The junior is a relentless attacker of the basket who can finish through contact and has improved his shooting touch and range.
