Jaylon Green Jaylon Green 5'10" | PG Knoxville Webb | 2022 State TN (Knoxville Webb) vs. Lakeway Christian: Speedy though not dominant. Jaylon is usually a natural leader for Webb. Tuesday night he did the little things expertly: defended, handled pressure, spaced the floor. What he did not do to his best was shoot the basketball. Green is a very solid outside shooter customarily. His shot was not on and yet it did not impact his ability to pressure the basketball and challenge Lakeway’s guards.
Griffin Burke Griffin Burke 5'10" | PG Brentwood | 2021 State TN (Brentwood) vs. Centennial: Helped his Bruins to the finish line with some late-game free throw makes.
P.J. Smith (Goodpasture) vs. Lipscomb Academy: Finished with 26 points and W. PJay opened up with a solid starting lineup of seniors. Midway through his senior season, Smith is even better at finishing after contact. He drove the side of the lane, took a foul, hanging finished with grace. And1. Smith’s control of the offensive flow was expert. Smith did a sound job of changing the point of attack. Though his shot did not fall ever time, he kept his head in the play and extended a couple possessions with offensive rebounds. Deadly from the free throw line.
PJ Smith (@Psmithjr2 ) drives opposite side. He makes a layup in traffic.
Goodpasture wins, 64-63!!
Tough game to lose. Both teams played at a high level.

Jaden Lyles Jaden Lyles 6'1" | PG Lipscomb Academy (football) | 2022 State TN (Lipscomb Academy) vs. Goodpasture: Lyles played the role of pass-first point guard perfectly in the opening half. Lyles did not over-dribble or attempt to take challenged shots. He truly helped make his teammates better and put them in positions to succeed. The majesty of Lyles can not be overstated. He was clever, simple, effective. Foul trouble did limit Lyles’ minutes in the second half.
Maureice Sherrill (Lipscomb Academy) vs. Goodpasture: Tough night for a quality guard. Sherrill turned the ball over a disturbing amount. He struggled to finish in the lane despite earning his way deep into the defense via the dribble.
King Keary (Goodpasture) vs. Lipscomb Academy: Despite his youth and varsity inexperience, King played very poised and comfortable. Late in the first quarter, King drew a foul and calmly finished off his two free throws. King is an eighth grader, coming off the bench for a strong Goodpasture team. Keary’s quick feet remind of a young Konata Werts (Summit). High basketball IQ. King seems things before they happen. This is a trait that you often don’t see until a player has years of varsity basketball behind him. King is a absolutely wise beyond his basketball years.
