Tuesday Night Terrors: Forwards
The Forwards
Xavier Shegog (Goodpasture) vs. Lipscomb Academy: Raw strength. Xavier started slowly. He was a little unsure of his steps in traffic as Lipscomb pressured him effectively. In the second half, Xavier pounded the backboard, simply overwhelming the Mustang frontline time and again. Shegog does not get that many touches in the flow of the Goodpasture offense and yet he makes a difference.
Malik Dia Malik Dia 6'9" | PF Ensworth | 2022 State #210 Nation TN (Ensworth) vs. Brentwood Academy: Malik smoothly managed to execute a couple dribbles through handsy guards. His handle was effective and his bigger strides and strong shoulders enabled him to finish a difficult left-handed layup. Overall, Dia displayed the wing skills that make him such a unique talent. For instance, he can dribble and his shooting touch is better than average. That kind of success can be a double-edged sword when Dia works in tight though. His instinct to put the ball on the deck actually recruits shorter defenders into the play. By using an extra, largely unnecessary dribble, Dia creates more trouble than is needed.
Goodpasture/Lipscomb Academy has been all a fan could ask for.
Elite athleticism. High effort. Mistakes sure. 55-55 with 2:27 left.
4 fouls on Xavier Shegog. He is on the floor. Jaden Lyles has 4 for LA. He is on the floor.

Devin Mixon (Knoxville Webb) vs. Lakeway Christian: Exceptional perimeter defense. Mixon played a large amount under the basket defensively too. His lower-body balance appeared elite.
Raymon Adams Raymon Adams 6'6" | SF Lipscomb Academy | 2021 State TN (Lipscomb Academy) vs. Goodpasture: When Raymon knocked down a three-pointer late in the fourth quarter, he firmly established himself as a senior in pursuit of a key January win. The next possession Adams lost the ball. Instead of burying his head in shame, he checked one of the best players in the state, PJay Smith, waited until the ball returned from a low-post feed. Then, Raymon got the hand up and caused Smith to elevate and then travel. Raymon missed much of last season with an injury and certainly managed to make up for it Tuesday. Further, Raymon drew plenty of fouls and forced Xavier Shegog into significant late-game foul trouble.
Raymon @_rayadams is WORKING tonight. Pump-faked Isaiah West up into the air. Draws foul.
It deserves mentioning that @isaiahyb23 is starting to attack like the elite guard that he is. Lipscomb Academy lacks the defensive transition speed to keep West out of his game.
