Top 5: 5A

With a few pre-season games left on the slate, we are starting to see some good basketball being played across the state. Teams are starting to really find their rotation. The state RPI is set to come out this Monday as well as many onlookers see were they stack up when it comes to their rank based on their opponents played. We take a dive into what makes these Top 5 teams the top 5. 5A has a few top teams that are set for a clash.  1.Timpview 7-3 We absolutely love that Timpview is stepping up and playing against some major competition. Their 3 losses come against Corner Canyon, Pleasant Grove and Wasatch Academy. Jake WahlinJakeWahlin6'8" | SFTimpview | 2021State#150NationUT is solid and steady. The kid is blossoming for Timpview.  2.Olympus 6-2 Olympus was in a battle with Bingham last night but fell short. Their other loss comes against Pleasant Grove. Olympus has so many guards that have size and can shoot. What makes them tough is Jack Wisctircil this kid is big, strong and talented. The kid can finish inside and can absolutely shoot the basketball. The kid that is impressive to watch is freshman Dutch DowdellDutchDowdell6'5" | SGOlympus | 2024UT. Dutch is a player.  3.Lehi 7-2 Lehi was impressive against Westlake. The shoot the ball well and have great spacing Noa GonsalvesNoaGonsalves6'2" | CGLehi | 2021StateUT and Peter AmakasuPeterAmakasu6'4" | CGLehi | 2021UT as well as Tyson HawkinsTysonHawkins6'4" | SGLehi | 2021StateUT make for a tough perimeter team. Excited to what they draw up against Alta in region play.  4.Timpanogos 5-5 Don’t be fooled by their record, they will win when it counts and Jackson HolcombeJacksonHolcombe6'6" | CGTimpanogos | 2021StateUT is the the real deal. I know of a handful of D2 schools on the hunt for him. He is long and can do a lot on the floor for Timpanogos. Look for him to continue to light u the scoreboard. The other prospect to keep a close eye on is Bron RobertsBronRoberts6'9" | CTimpanogos | 2023StateUT. He continues to get better with time.  5.Alta 5-5 Another team that has had a few hiccups this season but is just dangerous. They can play up-tempo or slow it down. Jaden BrownellJadenBrownell6'8" | SFAlta | 2021StateUT is so good and he just surpassed 1,000 points in his career. Jett LundbergJettLundberg6'2" | CGAlta | 2022StateUT is a solid guard for Alta as well.
