Tasty Appetizer. 4pm! Warner vs Waubay/Summit. This is your perfect chance to either tune into, or attend a 4pm game, then get in the car at 5:30 and head to another. PLUS, these are both two losses teams working to stay even with Aberdeen Christian and Langford Area . It’s a very important game for both squads. Sophomore wing Jonathan Johnston Jonathan Johnston 6'3" | SG Waubay/Summit | 2023 State SD and senior Colby Rumpza make an excellent backcourt for the Mustangs and they will be the favorite.
Specials. This is a huge weekend for Mobridge-Pollock. The Tigers face both #1 Dakota Valley (who lost last night so won’t have that top spot claim much longer) and 10th ranked Chamberlain in back to back nights (Chamberlain first, tonight). Considering the Tigers get the Panthers in the game following their first loss of the season, Braden Goehring and company likely need to get a win over Chamberlain. Not to mention, Chamberlain took the Tiger spot in the Class A Top Ten AND both teams are in Region 6 so they will be motivated for a number of reasons. Great guard match-up tonight with Dreyton Priebe on one side and the Goehrings (Bryston is the bigger guard at 6’1, Braden is 5’8) on the other.

The draw may not be a lot of top games as much as it will be a chance for fans to come to one location and see a lot of talented basketball teams. Don’t get me wrong, there will be a number of competitive teams and likely an upset or two, but a day like this is about the culture of basketball and basketball community as much as it is the games. Fans get to see players like North Dakota signed Paul Bruns Paul Bruns 6'4" | SG Dakota Valley | 2021 State SD , All State level Jakob Dobney Jakob Dobney 6'0" | PG Vermillion | 2021 State SD , and the speed up the floor of Colin Rentz Colin Rentz 6'0" | PG Dell Rapids | 2021 State SD . There’s the chance to see a young talent like Isaac Bruns Isaac Bruns 6'4" | SG Dakota Valley | 2023 State SD as well as a top junior in Cael Lundin Cael Lundin 6'3" | SG Tea Area | 2022 State SD . It’s also a chance for the teams to not just represent their school/community, but also their league! And if you have to watch it online, that’s okay to as you got your day long menu in front of you and you can pick what you want to see.
Dessert. Tomorrow there are two Class AA games of teams hoping to finding a chemistry and building to be contenders. It’s Roosevelt vs Lincoln, and Brandon Valley vs O’Gorman. Both contests are at 7pm tomorrow and all four teams need a win. Of course it’s not must win territory yet, but it’s almost February meaning we are on the other side of the hill. The playoffs are not as far away as people think.
