Continue ReadingWe have a new #1 team and a new team enters the top 10 this week. This coming week we have some amazing matchups you will want to keep an eye on. There will no doubt be more movement in next week’s rankings. We are in for one heck of a week of hoops!
Here are the ND Class B Power Rankings, a list of #1 to 10.
1. Four Winds/Minnewaukan – 11-1. The Indians had a great week picking up two more wins. On Tuesday they dismantled Langdon/Edmore/Munich by 25 points and Friday they blasted Dakota Prairie by 58. Four Winds is now the clear favorite to win Region 4. Coming up they will be busy with games against Harvey/Wells County, Lakota, and Powers Lake. Their matchup with the Ranchers on Saturday will be the game of the week in Class B.
2. Dickinson Trinity – 13-1. The Titans notch another win and push their win streak up to nine consecutive wins. They downed Heart River by 17 points on Tuesday. They have a doozy of a week ahead of them with monster matchups against Bowman County, Beulah, and Bishop Ryan. If they make it through this week without a hiccup, they deserve to be #1 in next week’s Power Rankings. The Titans are a smart disciplined team. Their top dogs are Jake Daniel, Cole Fitterer, Tanner Soehren. After these monumental matchups this week, we will have a good idea who the best team in Region 7 is going into the Region Tournament.
3. Ellendale – 12-1. The Cardinals are still undefeated on the year against North Dakota teams, they are the only team in the state that can make that claim. They won two more games this week on Friday and Saturday night at home. They hammered Barnes County North by 41 and beat-up on Lisbon by 17 points. This coming week Ellendale hosts Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier at home for a prime-time Region 3 District 5 matchup. The Rebels will be playing for revenge and the Cardinals will be playing for the #1 seed in the District. Ellendale has one of the best big men in ND with 6’7” Scott Wagner Scott Wagner 6'8" | C Ellendale | 2022 State ND who records a double-double in every game.
4. Grafton/St. Thomas – 11-1. The Spoilers played one game this past week and they beat May-Port-C-G by 24 points. Grafton will be tested this week with three games. On Tuesday they play at Cavalier and Thursday they host Drayton/Valley-Edinburg. On Friday night they have a top ten matchup at Langdon/Edmore/Munich. This will be a nice litmus test for both teams as both have State Tournament aspirations. The Spoilers have a veteran group of players with Stevan Garza Stevan Garza 6'2" | SG Grafton | 2021 State ND , Justin Garza Justin Garza 5'11" | SG Grafton | 2021 State ND , Luis Balderas Jr., Brandon Albrecht Brandon Albrecht 6'1" | SG Grafton | 2021 State ND , and William Jiskra.
5. Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier – 12-1. The Rebels had a perfect week adding three more victories. They had a quality win on Tuesday over Linton/HMB by seven points. On Thursday and Friday, they had large margin wins over South Border and Griggs-Midkota. On Tuesday, the Rebels will be playing for revenge at Ellendale to see who the best team in District 5 is. The Rebels have a stud senior in Alex Huber Alex Huber 6'6" | SF Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier | 2021 State ND who is having a great season. He is accompanied by fellow big man Chayse Entzi and a versatile, athletic guard Adam Nitschke.
6. Enderlin – 10-2. The Eagles went 1-1 this week. On Monday they beat Maple Valley by 34 points. On Saturday they were upset by LaMoure/Litchville-Marion, 51-50 in a low-scoring affair. The Eagles will stay busy this coming week. On Monday they play at Wyndmere/Lidgerwood, Tuesday they host Tri-State, and Saturday Shiloh Christian comes to Enderlin. The Eagles are led by stellar juniors Joe Hurlburt Joe Hurlburt 6'10" | PF Enderlin | 2022 State #147 Nation MN and Gus Hurlburt Gus Hurlburt 6'9" | PF Enderlin | 2022 State ND .
7. Langdon/Edmore/Munich – 11-1. The Cardinals went 2-1 on the week. They had a tough loss to start the week out against Four Winds/Minnewaukan. They bounced back nicely with a 23-point win over North Star/Starkweather and a 4-point win over an underrated New Rockford-Sheyenne squad. Coming up they have Benson County at home Thursday and they have a prize-fight matchup Friday against Grafton. I think everyone is intrigued with the Langdon/Grafton matchup. Simon Romfo Simon Romfo 6'1" | SG Langfond-Edmore-Munich | 2021 State ND and Grant Romfo Grant Romfo 6'1" | SF Langdon/Edmore/Munich | 2021 State ND are the two studs for the Cardinals who are a great 1-2 punch.
8. Powers Lake – 10-1. The Ranchers played one game this week and they beat Stanley by 15-points. They are looking to be road-warriors this week with games at Lewis and Clark – North Shore and Four Winds/Minnewaukan. The Four Winds matchup will be a fun one. It will be a great test for the Ranchers, and we will find out how good they really are on Saturday evening. If Powers Lake is going to upset the Indians on their home court Noah Fredrickson Noah Fredrickson 6'0" | SG Powers Lake | 2021 State ND and Tyson Enget Tyson Enget 5'11" | PG Powers Lake-Burke Central | 2023 State ND are going to need big games.

On Saturday they imposed their will upon Thompson and won 69-49. Coming up they play Richland, Oak Grove, and May-Port-C-G. 10. Bishop Ryan – 10-1. The Lions picked up two more wins this week over Glenburn 63-27 and South Prairie 62-41. Bishop Ryan is currently on a 9-game win-streak. This coming week they have a tough stretch. On Monday they have Dunseith at home, Tuesday they have Our Redeemers at home, and are at Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood on Friday. If the Lions make it through the week without a loss, I see them jumping way up the Power Rankings next week.
