This weeks installment on section Xi brings us players to watch from the class of 2022.

Zatai Townsend. 6”0. 2022. Brentwood HS

Has a tremendous basketball build. A player with a smooth skill set and can play a physical game as well. Has a tight handle and uses it to get to the rim. Lacking a little game experience but is a player on the rise for a program that usually makes their players better.

Peter Ferrizz. 6”5 2022. Sachem North HS

Has the ever-important inside-out out game for a big man. Finishes with either hand around the rim. Consistently can hit the three. An offensive threat on the pick and pop or roll. Needs to improve with his quickness and foot speed.

Tyler Davide. 6”6. 2022. Sachem North HS

A consistent mid range game. Can score in the post. A rim protector. Led his team in block shots as a sophomore. A defensive presence in the middle.

Max Rentsch. 6”3. 2022. Huntington HS

Has leadership qualities. High basketball IQ. Gets to the basket and can finish through contact. Shoots the ball well from the perimeter. Has the potential to be a leading scorer. A player capable of taking that next step.

Dylan Coleman. 5”8. 2022. Huntington HS

A true point guard. Sees the floor well. Great decision maker. Gets his teammates in the right spots. Can drive and dish setting up guys for easy buckets. Needs to be a little more aggressive looking for his scoring opportunities.

Kevin Drake. 6”0. 2022. Huntington HS

Tremendous three point shooter. Unlimited range. Good at catch and shoot coming off screens. Working on improving his ball handling to get off his own shot.

Some sad news to report. On Wednesday, Jo Jo Wright a player at Uniondale high school who we have reported on many times over the last few months was killed in an automobile accident in which he was a passenger. JoJo was in the (Jan13 Nassau county report) where he was projected by me to be a possible player of the year in the state of New York. But he was much much more, basketball doesn't seem to be very important when things like this happen. When you do these evaluations every coach starts with what the player does well. All you need to know about Jo Jo was whenever I spoke with coach Tom Diana, he started with “Jo Jo is a special kid, a tremendous person, really intelligent, a great student, his teachers love him, who just happens to have extraordinary talent in the game of basketball. Truly a tragedy. Death at any age is sad but when it's a 15 year old kid with a great future ahead, it's heartbreaking. My deepest condolences to Coach Diana , Uniondales basketball and high school and I am sending all my prayers to Jo Jo’s family. May God bless. RIP Jo Jo Wright.
