I took in a number of games and received player information over the course of the week. As always, I encourage anyone to reach out to me on my socials regarding notable player performances.
Let’s look into it…
Gabriel Gaspard Gabriel Gaspard 6'0" | SG Dr. Krop | 2022 State FL – Dr. Krop
2022 Gabriel Gaspard Gabriel Gaspard 6'0" | SG Dr. Krop | 2022 State FL was easily the best player on the floor in the Lightning’s victory over Miami Springs. The 6-foot-2 guard scored a game-high 25 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the field. Moreover, Gaspard added eight rebounds and three steals. He was extremely effective in transition and finishing at the rim. In one sequence, Gaspard grabbed a defensive rebound off the glass and went coast-to-coast for a layup on the other end. In addition, he shot efficiently with running floaters down the middle of the lane. When hit with contact, Gaspard shot a crisp 9-of-11 from the free-throw line. On the defensive end, he was sound moving his feet and staying in-front of his opponent. He should be happy about his overall performance in the 28-point win.
Audley Brown – Miami Springs
A 21-6 third quarter doomed the Golden Hawks, but I thought Brown’s performance was noteworthy. The 6-foot guard scored a team-high 16 points and showed adequate athleticism throughout the night. In the second half, Brown made a tough bucket driving from the baseline, drawing a foul in the paint on the continuation. With that play as an example, Brown showed a ton of fight despite the big deficit. I think he is a kid to keep an eye out for in the future.
Adren Roberts Adren Roberts 6'5" | SG Somerset Canyons | 2022 State FL – Somerset Canyons
2022 Adren Roberts Adren Roberts 6'5" | SG Somerset Canyons | 2022 State FL had a night in a victory over Monsignor Pace. The 6-foot-5 wing posted a triple-double of 23 points, 14 rebounds and ten assists. Roberts has a ton of length to make plays on all three levels of the floor. He is a matchup problem for most of his defenders thanks to his size and athleticism. Please click here to view some of his highlights.
Jordan Hinds Jordan Hinds 6'3" | SF Cypress Bay | 2021 State FL – Cypress Bay
2021 Jordan Hinds Jordan Hinds 6'3" | SF Cypress Bay | 2021 State FL is probably the Lightning’s most versatile player. The 6-foot-4 small forward scored 25 points and grabbed six rebounds by my account. However, Hinds can bring the ball up the floor like a guard and shadows as a wing in certain sets. His guard-like quickness provided him opportunities into the lane while finishing around the rim. Hinds is a capable three-level scorer with all things considered. I thought his ten first quarter points really gave Cypress Bay an early spark. You can check out some of his highlights by clicking here.
Thaddeus Squire Thaddeus Squire 6'5" | CG Stranahan | 2021 State FL – Stranahan
2021 senior captain Thaddeus Squire Thaddeus Squire 6'5" | CG Stranahan | 2021 State FL provided the mic drop on the Mighty Dragons senior night. The 6-foot-5 wing scored 14 points, including the game-winning layup in transition with seconds remaining to lift Stranahan over Cypress Bay. While playing the clock, “T3” used his athleticism to hit a tough bucket off the glass in transition around three defenders. Moreover, Squire added ten rebounds by my account thanks to his length. He is a playmaker no matter where he is on the floor.
