Some teams had to cancel tournaments they usually travel to like the famous Tarkanian Classic. Many teams found games and some programs created some tournaments that provided good competition with teams that usually seek games out of state. With that said there are teams that have had 12 games played and some as low as 7 games played, regardless of amount of games played there are some players that are scoring at a high clip. Let’s get it started.
6’0 PG Quentin Meza Quentin Meza 6'0" | PG Cyprus | 2023 State UT , Cyprus High School
Class of 2023
With 260 points scored in 11 games played “Q” is averaging 23.6 PPG and is light years ahead of almost all other players in his class when it comes to scoring. This year there has been some change to his game as teams are running him off the 3-point line and he has adjusted as he finds ways to get floaters or pull-up’s in as well. He is rebounding the ball better and getting the break started quickly. His assist have gone up as well. Look for Quentin to reach 1,000 points if he stays healthy the rest of the way.
6’3 PG Trace Ross Trace Ross 6'3" | PG Corner Canyon | 2021 State UT , Corner Canyon High School
Class of 2021
Trace is another player that not only has transformed his game he has moved over to the PG position full-time as he is showing that he can run the show. Trace is elite off the dribble and moving without the ball. He has scored 233 points this year already in 12 games and is putting up 19.6 PPG. Trace should surpass 1,000 points the next time he suits up as he needs 2 more points. Great next level prospect who’s stock will continue to rise, especially playing in Region 4.
6’6 G Jackson Holcombe Jackson Holcombe 6'6" | CG Timpanogos | 2021 State UT , Timpanogos High School
Class of 2021
With 228 points scored and averaging 22.8 PPG Jackson is one of the top prospects in his class that has not committed to pay somewhere next season. This kid could land at the highest level or find himself in a really good position with plenty of options. Either way Jackson will play at the next level. Keep an eye on him as he will likely heat up from outside as well.
6’5 PF Robert Whaley Robert Whaley 6'5" | PF Bountiful | 2021 State UT , Bountiful High School
Class of 2021
Robert averages 20.5 PPG and has scored 226 points this season. While most teams know exactly what is coming they still cannot stop him. Robert will be really close to 1,500 points in his career. The CSI commit will be fun to watch at the next level.
6’9 SF Carter Welling Carter Welling 6'10" | PF Corner Canyon | 2021 State UT , Corner Canyon High School
Class of 2021
The UC Irvine signee has made the most impressive jump out of all the local Utah boys in his class as he has blossomed from that once lanky 6’2 G to a 6’9 power inside and out. Carter runs the floor extremely well and it is almost impossible to keep him off the rims as he can position himself really well on the block and he runs the floor so well. With 221 points scored in 12 games Carter is scoring 18.4 PPG.
6’8 SF Ethan Potter Ethan Potter 6'8" | SF Layton | 2021 State #194 Nation UT , Layton High School
Class of 2021
With only 7 games under his belt Ethan is averaging over 30 PPG. Ethan is another player that will be close to that 1,500 point mark with 216 points scored this season. Ethan is a poster maker as he is just tough to stop. The future Utah Valley Wolverine has been posting video game numbers. If you look at his career numbers there is no doubt why he has been tabbed as one of the best players in America.
