In the championship game, Summit Christian Academy defeated host Richmond 49-37. Bishop LeBlond defeated Wellington-Napoleon 59-53 in the third-place game. Here is a look at the top standouts from Friday night’s action at Richmond.
Jared Gerdes Jared Gerdes 6'3" | SG Summit Christian | 2021 State MO 6’8″ Summit Christian: The 2021 forward scored 19 points and dominated the second half of SCA’s championship game victory over Richmond. He simply used his size to overpower the smaller Spartans in the post. He also has a nice 3-point shot, but he didn’t need it on Friday night.
Griffin Kliwer 6’3″ Summit Christian: The 2021 guard was selected the Most Valuable Player of the Richmond Tournament. He shoots a very nice ball from 3-point range with excellent form and mechanics. He scored 18 points in the championship game. He can also handle the ball and deliver some nice dimes.
Jake Korrell 6’0″ Bishop LeBlond: The 2023 guard scored all 18 of his points in the second half in a victory over Wellington-Napoleon in the third place game. He got things going in the third quarter with three consecutive 3-pointers. He is a savvy performer with good ball handling and passing skills. For a young player, he likes the big moment.
Spencer Wolf 5’10″ Richmond: The 2021 guard scored 15 points in Friday night’s championship game. He epitomizes Richmond’s team; small, yet tough with good shooting ability. He knocked down a trio of 3-pointers and he wasn’t afraid to take it inside the land of the trees.
Matthew Stricker 6’1″ Wellington-Napoleon: The 2021 guard scored a team high 22 points in the third place game. In the first half, he hit eight consecutive free throws. In the second half, he had a lot of success attacking the basket on the drive.
Brady Hughes Brady Hughes 6'3" | SG Wellinton-Napoleon | 2022 State MO 6’3″ Wellington-Napoleon: The 2022 wing battled foul trouble, yet still finished with 13 points. He found success on the perimeter with :three 3-pointers. He also has an effective game in the lane with good post moves and the ability to drive.
