Recruiting Report: Jaylon McDaniel (2021)
Jaylon McDaniel is blossoming in his second year at Sunrise Christian. The 6-foot-6, 220-pound forward from Kansas City is the ultimate team guy who takes pride in his work ethic. McDaniel comes from a football background which is largely responsible for his style of play.
“My dad was a great football player, but he’s a huge basketball fan too,” McDaniel told Prep Hoops. “He’s the one who taught me how to play and be physical.”
Owning a 7-foot-2 wingspan, McDaniel is a versatile defender who doesn’t mind doing the dirty work. He is comfortable defending 3-5 but has also improved offensively.
“I remember a couple of years ago, I couldn’t finish layups when I got hit,” McDaniel recalled. “That and my dribbling are probably the most improved parts of my game since I got to Sunrise.”
ETSU recently offered McDaniel a scholarship. Arkansas is another school that he mentioned was recruiting him. What is he looking for in a school?
“I’m looking for a school that hits me. These guys, they love me. I’m a nice guy. I’m always willing to help anybody out. I just want to go to a school that fits me and I can give back to that environment.”
