King has worked hard this off-season on his game and he will continue to work in any way he can.
“I for sure want to improve my consistency shooting and my jumpshot,” Eli explained when thinking about his game overall. “I’m not going to be able to get to the rim as much when the defense gets better at the higher levels. I play on and off the ball so I want to always improve my ball handling too. Another thing is to continue to get bigger and stronger. That’s another key thing for me.”
“I think taking control of the game more consistently regardless if it’s early in the game, middle of the game, late in the game of course, is something I’d like to see,” Brad King said, Eli’s father and high school basketball coach.
“I’d like to see the consistency of taking the bull by the horns at the start of the game. Putting the throttle down.”
Eli recently made the decision that it will be basketball in college over football.
“Eli is going to focus on basketball and pick a school,” Brad King said. “There have been a few schools that have left it open to play basketball and football once he decides on a school. He’s called all the college football coaches to let them know.
“Some of them are still talking to us and sending stuff in case Eli changes his mind. They were all very appreciative if Eli telling them quickly so they don’t waste time. It’s been nothing but a great experience with how all the football coaches reacted.”
Right now five college basketball programs are showing Eli the most attention as he enters his junior season:
“I would say right now right now Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota, Marquette, and Stanford are the main five contacting me the most,” Eli said. “Normally the schools are making phone calls to me and we’ve set up a few Zoom calls too. I have Zoomed with Marquette a lot, with Minnesota some, and Iowa State once or twice, and Stanford once or twice.”
Brad also added “Arizona, Wisconsin, and a few others schools have also been reaching out, just not as much as those other five.”
Eli is looking forward to visiting some campuses at some point so he can take his recruiting interests to another level.
“I am very excited to do that. Whenever that is… hopefully soon. And when I can I am looking forward to it.”
Will location play a factor in Eli’s choice?
“I would say that it will matter a little bit. It won’t be the main thing, I would be fine playing far away from here, but it will be a little bit of a factor.”
