The visiting Packers cashed in on 30 points off of Omaha North’s 18 turnovers en route to a convincing 68-45 road victory.
Players of Note:
Rickey Loftin PG Freshman 5’10 Omaha South High School
Loftin (#1 pictured) impressed from the jump. One of only a handful of freshmen starting in the metro, the 5’10 guard separated himself from all others this evening with his fearless play at such a young age. Loftin led all scorers with a game-high 19 points, despite missing much of the third quarter with foul trouble. Loftin scored at all three levels; getting to the foul line by drawing contact on drives (5/7 FT) as well as shooting 4/5 from behind the three-point arc. Loftin will be a fun guard to follow as he develops throughout the remainder of his prep career for the Packers.
Zion Hendon Zion Hendon 6'5" | PF Omaha Central | 2022 State NE Hendon PF Junior 6’5 Omaha South High School
The 6’5 forward showed an evolving interior presence Thursday evening. Bang Hendon came just one rebound short from a double-double with a 15 point – 9 rebound effort. The #38 ranked junior in Nebraska according to Prep Hoops was strong with the basketball, keeping the ball up at almost all times on finishes after several hard-fought rebounds, or kicking out nicely when doubled to open perimeter teammates. The junior was very efficient as well, scoring his 15 points on an amazing 7/8 from the floor.
Jacob Martin SG Sophomore 5’11 Omaha South High School
Despite his 5’11 frame, Martin filled the stat sheet; scoring 15 points on 6/9 shooting, grabbing 6 rebounds, and dishing out a team-high 4 assists.
Keshaun Williams Keshaun Williams 6'0" | SG Omaha North | 2022 State NE CG Junior 6’0 Omaha North High Stem Magnet School
Williams fought foul trouble and a rough shooting night, but continued to battle throughout the evening. The #13 junior in Nebraska according to Prep Hoops led the Vikings with 13 points, and showed glimpses of strong play in a game that never went quite right for the home team that cold Thursday evening.
