NorCal has a good number of Unsigned 2021 prospects who are looking to bolster their chances of playing basketball at the next level. This was an opportunity for them to compete, and have college coaches, and scouts evaluate their game. The group listed is 6’3 to 6’7. Combo, wings, and forwards.
Robert Vaihola Robert Vaihola 6'7" | PF Archbishop Riordan | 2021 State CA-N 6’7 Forward. Archbishop Riordan HS. Arsenal KP 1
Vaihola has improved his game across the board. He’s a productive player in the post, with strength, goods hands, and a soft touch around the basket. He’s a good passer from the block, and high post. He has made notable improvements on his perimeter game. An improved dribble drive that allows him to get into the lane, an elbow jumper, and he’s capable of stepping out and hitting the 3. He’ll rebound.
Sione Lose Sione Lose 6'4" | SF Capital Christian | 2021 State CA-N 6’5 Wing. Capital Christian HS, Cap City Cougars 17
There isn’t a more consistent prospect than Lose in NorCal. He understands the game, and what he can do. His skill set on the wings allow him to be someone you have to account for, a triple threat. He can hit 3’s on the wings, take his man off the dribble, has a good pull up jumper from mid-range, and a good passer. He’ll rebound and push. He can defend multiple positions with his length.
Jaylen Wells Jaylen Wells 6'5" | SG Folsom | 2021 State CA-N 6’6 Wing Folsom HS, Rose City Ballers 17
Wells is noted for being a prospect that can knock down shots from 3. The long armed player has improved his passing, and ball handling. He put the ball on the floor for a driving mid-range jumper, and showed some aggressiveness going towards the basket. He has good length and showed he’s an improving defender on the perimeter.
Landon Wiedenfeld Landon Wiedenfeld 6'6" | SF Granada | 2021 State CA-N 6’6 Wing/Forward Granada HS, Team Grr!!
Wiedenfeld a versatile prospect, he has a good set of skills to contribute in multiple ways on the court. He runs well, and is stronger than he looks. At 6’6 he did a good job defending in the post, he was active going after rebounds, and showed he could handle the ball in transition. He has good range, he hit the mid-range jumper, and knocked down 3’s from the corner.
Jonah Alvarez Jonah Alvarez 6'5" | SG Capital Christian | 2021 State CA-N 6’5 Wing Capital Christian HS, Cap City Cougars 17
Alvarez is another prospect who’s trying to balance his skill set. He has the shooters label, but is developing other parts of his game. His improved ball handling, and passing skills will do a lot for his overall game. He has a nice floater when he gets into the paint, he still needs to take it stronger on the drive. He’s active, runs the floor. He needs more consistency with his outside shooting.
Niyi Olabode Niyi Olabode 6'5" | SF Miramonte | 2021 State CA-N 6’5 Guard/Wing Miramonte HS, Team Grr!!
Olabode is an experienced prospect who has been competing at a good level for a while now. He doesn’t get rattled easily. He’s a good defender on the perimeter. Improving his offensive game is where he can really help himself. He has a solid body, with decent handles. He needs to be more forceful, and look to score more with the ball on the perimeter, wings and transition. He has a good mid-range jumper. He’s a high IQ prospect, and doesn’t make a lot of mistakes.
Nick Stultz 6’3 Guard/Wing Woodcreek HS, Clutch Elite
Stultz intrigues me. At 6’3 he has a good fundamental skill set, and feel for the game. He’s active, and always running up and down the court. When he has the ball he seems comfortable being the facilitator. He has good court vision, passes well in transition, and half court sets. He has good form and range on his shot.
Tyler Isaak Tyler Isaak 6'3" | SG San Ramon | 2021 State CA-N 6’3 Guard/Wing San Ramon Valley HS, Team Grr!!
Isaak is a tough minded prospect with a good shot. He looks to shoot when the opportunity is there. He doesn’t force it, but he’s the kind of player you might call a play, and set screens for, he uses them to his advantage. He has good footwork, and a quick release. He’ll hit from 3 more often than not if you don’t guard him. He takes it strong to the basket on the drive, and in transition.
