Gunnar Ball, sophomore, Perry-Lecompton:
Ball seems to have significant scoring totals every other game. Friday in a tough 71-65 win over Pleasant Ridge, the 6-foot-1 sophomore produced 18 to aid his veteran teammates. Ball has games of 17, 15 and 14 already this season.

Decker entered Friday with three games with 20 or more points, including a high of 33 against the NEK Saints. The 6-foot veteran continued his high-scoring ways Friday with 21 in a big win over Chapman. Decker hit five 3-pointers.
Joel Deters, junior, Mission Valley:
2A’s #2 team Lyndon went down Friday night at the hands of Mission Valley. Leading the way for the Vikings was 5-foot-10 guard Deters, who scored 15 in the upset. Deters recently had a season high 16 against Doniphan West.
Jim Dorsey, junior, Wellsville:
The 6-foot-5 junior has really stepped into a leading role for the Eagles this season. In Friday’s 75-53 win over Seabury, Dorsey hit five 3-pointers and produced 24 total points. With his height and effective stroke, Dorsey is establishing himself as a special

Connor Gibson, senior, Pleasant Ridge:
The Rams eventually succumbed to Perry-Lecompton, Friday, but the 6-foot-1 Gibson wasn’t going down without a fight. The senior cashed in five 3-pointers and 9-10 from the line for 32 points, nearly half his team’s output.
Carson Gilbert, junior, Hiawatha:
The 6-1 Gilbert has stepped into the lineup following the graduation of several seniors last year. Gilbert has had several double-digit performances, and he put down 24 to lead the rebuilding Red Hawks versus Rossville.
Creighton Johnson, junior: Doniphan West:
Doniphan West made easy work of Onaga Friday, with Johnson leading the way. With several other talented scorers around him, Johnson plays a variety of roles, but occasionally he pops for double figures. He recorded his season high 17 with three 3-pointers against Onaga.
Christian McAfee, freshman, Sabetha:
The Blue Jays are in a real rebuilding season, and some younger players will be called on during the process. A freshman to watch is the tall and athletic freshman McAfee who started getting significant playing time in December. He tossed in 7 Friday in a loss to Labette County, which matched the 7 he had against Paola.
Kade Perine, sophomore, Rossville:
Perine is an all-out hustler who hasn’t let up despite the rough going for Rossville. The point guard hasn’t had a lot of big scoring games yet this season, but he showed what he’s capable of with 24 in Friday’s loss to Hiawatha.
Dylan Thompson, senior, Jackson Heights:
The Panthers haven’t won a lot of games, and they usually play low-scoring affairs. So it’s a bit of an anomaly to see the 6-foot-4 Thompson pour in 24 Friday in a win against Oskaloosa. Thompson hit two 3-pointers and 2-2 from the line.
