Last year, Benton Harbor’s Scooby Johnson claimed the honor. Given the difficulties involved with this season, the Mr. Basketball award may be even more difficult than normal to determine. It’s time to introduce another one of the top candidates for the award this season.

Julian Lewis Julian Lewis 6'5" | SG Ann Arbor Huron | 2021 State MI has to be considered a candidate for the honor to start the season. He’s an elite shooting guard from Ann Arbor Huron. Lewis is ranked as the 7th prospect in the state by Prep Hoops Michigan. He will be continuing his education and basketball career at William and Mary after his senior year is complete.
Lewis really HAS to be considered for Mr. Basketball this season. He’s the highest ranked player on what is regarded as one of top 3 overall lineups in the state of Michigan. Lewis, and his team, could have a huge season ahead of them.
Lewis brings a lot to the table as a player and a prospect. Let’s start on the defensive end. He’s an elite perimeter defender and the definition of a stopper. Lewis has the footwork and strength needed to make a difference on the defensive end, even at the next level. He’s a menace on the glass, attacking the ball off the rim and picking up put back points underneath. Lewis is crafty offensively, finding his way to the rim and finishing at a high percentage. He has a jumper with range beyond the arc, making him a threat to score from all over the floor.
Julian Lewis Julian Lewis 6'5" | SG Ann Arbor Huron | 2021 State MI would be a perfect fit for the 2021 Mr. Basketball award. He’s a great representative for a superbly talented team. If Ann Arbor Huron makes a state title run, it might be tough to leave his name off the trophy.
