Since 1981, 18 of the winners of this award have gone on to be drafted in the NBA. It has been won by legends such as Chris Webber, Terry Mills, Cassius Winston, Glen Rice, and Sam Vincent. Last year, Benton Harbor’s Scooby Johnson claimed the honor. In a condensed season, the Mr. Basketball award may be even tougher than normal to determine. It seems like the right time to introduce some realistic candidates for the award this season.

Foster Wonders Foster Wonders 6'5" | SF Iron Mountain | 2021 State MI is definitely in the running for the Mr. Basketball award this season. The small forward from Iron Mountain is ready to leave his mark on basketball in the state. He is currently ranked as the number 6 prospect in Michigan’s class of 2021. Wonders will be playing at Southern Illinois after his senior year is complete.
Wonders has been the conductor on the train for basketball in the way up north. No matter where you put him, it’s impossible to miss his type of talent. He’s a big time player with an exciting future and present in the game.
Wonders is a skilled and versatile player. Often times, his versatility is looked over. But the fact is, he can bang in the paint and pull down double digit rebounds as well as score from the perimeter. Wonders is just so tough for opponents to match up with on every possession. If you like mental and physical toughness, this is your guy. He walked into high school basketball three years ago as a leader that played big in high pressure situations. Wonders will easily average a double-double this season.
Foster Wonders Foster Wonders 6'5" | SF Iron Mountain | 2021 State MI is an excellent candidate for the 2021 Mr. Basketball award here in Michigan. He is the leader of a state title quality team that will put up huge numbers in the process.
