Garrett Devault 6’2″ Norwood: The talented wing player has been a bucket-getter since entering the Norwood program as a freshman as he scored more than 1,000 points in his first two varsity seasons. He is a very resourceful offensive player who can create his own shot off the dribble, get into the lane and move without the ball to find the open spots. His shooting range is also impressive. He scored 19 points last night in leading the Pirates to the championship of the Cabool Tournament in a victory over Galena. He did it in a manner in which he let the game come to him as he didn’t force bad shots. He was very good in the second half.
Austin Schwebach 6’4″ Stanberry: An athletic combo forward who does most of his damage in the lane. He has enough height and then uses his bounce to score over the top of opponents in traffic. He’s very active around the basket and he can also step outside and beat people off the dribble using a quick first step to get to the bucket. He is currently averaging close to 15 points while also averaging more than 10 rebounds a game to lead the team in both categories.
Tyler Schwebach 6’3″ Stanberry: He is the twin brother of Austin Schwender and the other half of Stanberry’s potent sibling combination. While Austin is more of an inside player, Tyler does much of his work on the perimeter. He can hit an open 3-pointer, but he is very good at getting into the paint and using his height. He averages 12 points and five rebounds a game while leading the team with three assists and two steals.
Peyton Blair 6’2″ Fort Zumwalt South: A solid all-around guard who has stepped into a bigger role as a junior this season in leading the Bulldogs to a 9-4 record. He’s a fast moving lefty who enjoys to play with a lot of pace. He helps create a lot of that pace with his ball hawking and ability to get deflections and steals on defense. He loves the action in the open court. He is currently averaging 13 points, four assists and two steals a game.
Marcus Price 6’5″ Pleasant Hope: I caught his action last week in the championship game of the Galena Tournament and I was very impressed with his combination of athleticism and offensive skills around the basket. His footwork is good and he has a very nice turnaround jumper from different spots in the post. He is an active rebounder with plenty of bounce and a high motor. He also had some impressive rim-runs which resulted in some good hustle buckets.
