Monday Night Shot Chart
Of the many games followed Monday, the following players made PrepHoopsTN take notice.
Knoxville West (56) vs. Sequoyah (61)
Will Biven Will Biven 6'3" | SG Knoxville West | 2022 State TN (Knox West ’22) – Finished with 26 points and 12 rebounds. He scored a dozen in the first half.
Gabriel Pastrana Gabriel Pastrana 6'0" | PG Knoxville West | 2022 State TN (Knox West ’22) – Gabriel helped with 4 steals and 17 points. This is his first year with the program.
Houston Dyer Houston Dyer 6'2" | PG Knoxville West | 2021 State TN (Knox West ’22) – Houston hauled down 7 rebounds.
Dillon Stakely (Sequoyah ’22) – Scored 25 points in a key win. Dillon puts in a lot of time with esteemed AAU program BMaze. The scoring prowess is special and his high school coach raves about Stakely. Maryville College offered him.
Rossview (72) vs. Montgomery Central (37)
Ronald Jessamy (Rossview ’23) – Clarksville is not always producing bigs of note. There was Alex Poythress. Brandon Huntley-Hatfield was absolutely going to be adorned before he enrolled at I.M.G. Academy. Ronald Jessamy is that next big thing though. Standing 6-foot-7, Jessamy is fantastic and versatile. In the win, Jessamy recorded 15 points with 8 rebounds and 6 blocks.
Spencer Mimms (Rossview ’21) – Mimms is a wonderful shooter. He finished with 12 points. He attended the PrepHoopsTN Fall Combine in fall 2019. Here was his eval/measurements from that day.
Julian Hatfield (Rossview ’22) – Just featured last week.
JR Hatfield (Rossview)
The natural and refined, through lifting and training, of Hatfield is tremendous. Facing Beech, Hatfield worked the glass. His power is only part of the equation. Hatfield, the younger brother of Brandon-Huntley-Hatfield, can jump and can use his quicks to get around a roadblock. There is a lot to like about his game, as he even hit a three-pointer from the top of the key in the second quarter.
Boyd Buchanan (58) vs. Notre Dame (49)
Boyd Buchanan Roster
#1 Caden Johnson* (2023)
#11 Ryan Lopez* (2023)
#12 Ace Bailey* (2024)
#20 Karson Gay* (2022)
#35 Jacob Shockley* (2023)
Notre Dame Roster
#0 Wesley Jones (Notre Dame ’21)
#3 Cole McCormick (Notre Dame ’24)
#5 Byrson Smith (Notre Dame ’21)
#21 Jakyse Locklin (Notre Dame ’22)
#30 Christian Robinson (Notre Dame ’23)
Ace Bailey* (Boyd Buchanan ’24) – Lean. Mid-range dream. Bailey is absurdly agile at such a young age. His length/athleticism reminds of a young Brandon Miller Brandon Miller 6'8" | SF Cane Ridge | 2022 State #18 Nation TN . Finished the game with 13 points.
Wesley Jones (Notre Dame ’21) – Wears #0. Jones was serviceable, but not dynamic. His passes rarely probed the Boyd Buchanan defense.
Jacob Shockley (Boyd Buchanan ’23) – A lug of a rebounder. Jacob lead his team with 17 points in the win. When pitted against a physical team like Notre Dame, rebounding requires more than just jumping. Shockley was absolutely committed to winning rebounding battles.
Caden Johnson (Boyd Buchanan ’23) – Whimsical night. Johnson finished with 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals.
Byrson Smith (Notre Dame ’21) – Compared to his game last Thursday against Cleveland High, Bryson played much better. Smith’s defensive commitment proved elite Monday night. Smith craftily dug down on D. The strong senior used his height and imposing presence to rattle a ball-handling wing. Notre Dame played without 2 of their 3 leading scorers (Tim Vaughn, DJ Brown).
