MLK Day Standouts (Underclassmen)
In this article:
Prep Hoops Missouri takes a look at some of the top underclassmen who put on top performances on Monday’s Dr Martin Luther King Jr Day.
Larry Hughes Jr 6’5 CBC: The 2022 shooting guard scored a team high 17 points in the Cadets victory over O’Fallon-Christian. He displayed his feathery shooting touch from long distance with four 3-pointers in the first half. I like how he has started to use his size and athleticism to attack the basket and get himself to the free throw line. He is also a willing defender who will sit down and give a strong effort.
Nick Kramer Nick Kramer 6'4" | SG Sluh | 2022 State MO 6’4 SLUH: The 2022 wing scored 25 points in the Jr. Bills victory over Normandy. His strength is his deep shooting range, but he has emerged as a complete scoring threat. He has a nice touch from the high post, a good drive game and he can play well without the ball. His overall athleticism has also improved.
Marqueas Bell 6’1 Park Hill: The 2023 guard came off the bench to score 16 points in the Vikings loss to Greenwood. The long lefty already has a nice offensive package where he can score from three levels. He knocked down three 3-pointers and scored on some swooping drives to the basket. His upside is big and he will emerge as a premiere scoring threat in the future.
Izaak Porter Izaak Porter 6'7" | SG Father Tolton | 2023 State MO 6’7 Greenwood: The 2023 forward scored all nine of his points in the second half of Greenwood’s come-from-behind victory at Park Hill. The young lefty really asserted himself during the key stretch of the game with his ability to rebound and hit the short jumper.
