MLK Day – Looking At Future Leaders

Martin Luther King was one of the most influential individuals in United States history. He was one of the greatest leaders to ever live. Martin Luther King had the ability to get others to follow his lead and to make positive change in the world. There is no better time than MLK Day, to take a look at positive young leaders in our communities. There are many gifted and intelligent young leaders in Michigan high school basketball. He’s focused on his success, yet selfless in achieving it. The athletic forward is a tremendous role model, not just for athletes, but for everyone. Pierre BrooksPierreBrooks6'5" | SGDetroit Douglass | 2021State#76NationMI II (2021, SG, Detroit Frederick Douglass) Whether it be basketball or something totally different, Pierre BrooksPierreBrooks6'5" | SGDetroit Douglass | 2021State#76NationMI II will be famous for the good things he does someday. He’s extremely intelligent both on and off the court. Brooks II is the type of player and person that people are willing to stand behind and follow his lead. Bennie CrenshawBennieCrenshaw5'10" | PGWaterford Kettering | 2021StateMI (2021, PG, Waterford Kettering) It seemed sometimes like Crenshaw had his back against the wall a lot in high school. For whatever reason, he always seemed to have doubters. Well, for those doubters, look at him now. Crenshaw proved he can brush it off and succeed no matter what. Critical community leaders need this same characteristic. Crenshaw will be a person that others turn to. It’s easy to see his teammates turn to him for direction and leadership. I have a feeling that, in time, it will be other adults looking his way for direction. Jaylen HodgesJaylenHodges6'3" | PGBridgeport | 2021StateMI (2021, PG, Bridgeport) I wonder if Jaylen HodgesJaylenHodges6'3" | PGBridgeport | 2021StateMI knows how valuable he’ll be to his community someday. He takes so much in stride and continues to make the most of his talents. When he tells the next generation about how he battled to become the player and person he is, they WILL listen. Hodges will be a great addition to a college program, you can bet on that.
