To go along with his scoring, he’s averaging 3.6 rebounds a game, 1.2 assists a game, and 2.1 steals per game. Jeppesen is a solid three-point shooter, making 35.6% of his shots behind the arc. The freshman will look to build off his already stellar season as the Bulldogs look to make a push in the postseason.
Derek Weisskopf, Williamsburg: Weisskopf had a solid game Tuesday night against Vinton-Shellsburg going for 21 points on 8 of 9 shooting, to go with five rebounds and two assists. The 6’2″ freshman for Williamsburg is leading the team in points (14.8) and second on the team in rebounds (5.6). Weisskopf has room to improve, only shooting 41.4% from the field, and turning the ball over 26 times. A huge upside for the freshman is his 85.2% free throw percentage. Weisskopf will be fun to watch for the next three years.
Jack Miller, Jesup: Miller posted a solid stat line in Tuesday night’s win against BCLUW. He had 8 points, 5 assists, and 4 steals. The freshman guard has started all eight games for the J-Hawks this year. Averaging 12.9 points a game, Miller has made an impact for the J-Hawks in his first year. Miller doesn’t just score either, distributing 3.6 assists a game, and getting it done on the defensive end getting 2.0 steals a game.
Drew Wagner, Waterloo Christian: The 6’3″ center has been a bright spot for the 1-6 Regents. After starting the first seven games, Wagner is averaging 14.3 points and 7.0 boards a game.
Cam Buffington, Winfield-Mt Union: Cam went for 24 in a blowout win against Columbus on Tuesday night. Now through six games, Buffington is averaging 20.5 points a game and is one rebound shy of averaging a double-double. The 6’2″ forward also averages just over two assists and two steals a game.
Owen Larson, Estherville Lincoln Central: At 5’11”, Owen is smart, can handle the ball, and can make plays. Starting all eight games for the Midgets, Larson is averaging 11.0 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 2.8 apg, and 2.1 spg. Larson will be fun to watch over the next three years.
Silas Walston, Bedford: A 6’1″ forward for the Bulldogs, Walston nearly averages a double-double in points and rebounds (10.1 & 9.1). The freshman is a rebounding and blocking machine in the paint.
Wyatt Powell, MFL-Mar-Mac: Powell is off to a solid start for MFL-Mar-Mac, leading the team in both points (12.4) and assists (4.3). On the downside, he also leads the team in turnovers (4.6), by a lot. On the offensive side, Powell distributes the ball well and has a decent stroke from three.
Jabari Woodbury, GMG: Averaging 10.3 points a game, Woodbury is third on the team in scoring. The freshman adds in 3.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists a game for GMG. Woodbury is shooting a very solid 52.6% from three and an even 40% from the field. Woodbury likes to get out on the fast break and can finish in the paint.
Preston Ries, Monticello: Ries has been solid as the sixth-man for the Panthers this season. The 6’1″ freshman is averaging an even 10 points a game, and 4.9 rebounds. Ries is solid defensively, rebounds very well, and finishes very well. If you haven’t gotten the chance to check him out, the young man has some bounce!
