Let’s take a look at some of the notable performances from Friday.
Max Alexander Max Alexander 6'0" | PG Next Level Prep | 2022 KS , 6’1 Point Guard, 2021, Buhler: Alexander had a week for the ages, scoring 35 points in the opening round of the SIT tournament in a win over Wichita South and then topping that with a 38 point performance against Andover in the semi finals. Against Andover, the Buhler guard put together one of the best first half performances in a very long time scoring 35 points and single handedly keeping his team in the game. Alexander was 11 of 13 from the field including 3 of 4 from 3 and 10 of 11 from the foul line. This was the week where the 6’1 guard put the state on notice that he is one of the best point guards in the 2021 class.
Cooper Autry, 6’3 Guard, 2022, Holcomb: Out west Autry has been quietly putting together a tremendous season for Holcomb. In a 54-42 win over Clay Center, Autry put together a complete performance in the win scoring 17 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and handing out 5 assists. Autry is a smooth player and has great size and length that he uses to be an effective and efficient basketball player.
Daegan Van Pelt, 6’1 Shooting Guard, 2022, Holcomb: Van Pelt is a terrific running mate for the previously mentioned Autry, a great catch and shoot player and plays off of handoffs well. In the win over Clay Center he scored 17 points and knocked down 3 three pointers. His length and quick trigger make him an intriguing 2022 prospect from the wing.
Jack Johnson Jack Johnson 6'2" | CG Andover | 2021 State KS , 6’2 Guard, 2021, Andover: In the duel with talented Alexander from Buhler, Johnson brought the scoring punch with him as well, dropping 24 in the ball game. He moves tremendously well without the ball and knows how to play without the ball in his hands and is deadly off the catch and shoot. Johnson is also a tremendous rebounder from the guard spot averaging 6.6 per game on the year, but notched a double double last night with his 10 boards.
Stevie Strong Jr, 6’1 Point Guard, 2021, Campus: Strong is as an electric of a point guard in the state as you will find. Able to get out into transition in a blur and has the athletic ability to get to all of his spots on the floor. Last night in a dominating win over Life Prep, Strong did his work from the 3 point line, hitting 8 threes and scoring a game high 40 points. The Campus guard can put up points in bunches, and last night was no exception.
Brendan Parker Brendan Parker 6'1" | SG Augusta | 2021 State KS , 6’1 Guard, 2021, Augusta: Parker was great in an Augusta win over KC Ward on Friday night. In a well balanced scoring attack for his club, the guard was able to lead the pack throughout the night scoring 15 points in the win. Parker plays with great balance on the floor and with his knockdown shooting ability off the catch, has a nice pull up game off the bounce to compliment it. Parker has a high basketball IQ and plays within himself on the court. He picked his spots nicely against Ward on Friday, and was highly efficient, something that always stands out.
