Rising sophomores are settling into new roles with many of them fighting for spots on varsity teams. The same is true for the 2023 Jersey Shore Predators team as they have prospects with the ability to make an impact this season. Here are the 2023 Jersey Shore Predators prospects set for big seasons.
Jared DeMara Jared DeMara 6'4" | SG St. Joseph Academy | 2023 State NJ , 6’4 SG/SF St. Augustine
The Hermits need to replace Elmarko Jackson’s production on the perimeter and DeMara has a chance to do so. The 6’4 wing can get to the basket from the perimeter and is capable of finishing above the rim. DeMara is more than just a slasher as he can knock down open jumpers from the perimeter. He uses his athleticism to sky for rebounds and can defend multiple positions. The Hermits will be one of the top teams in the Cape-Atlantic League again with DeMara being a potential X-factor.
Owen Denton, 5’10 PG Williamstown
The Braves have a big-time talent on the perimeter in dual-sport star Keon Sabb, but they are looking for someone to compliment his game in the backcourt. Denton could be that guy as he always plays with his head up and makes good decisions with the ball in his hands. The 5’10 guard has a good handle and is a crafty finisher around the basket. Denton moves his feet well on the defensive end and always plays with energy. If Denton can prove to be a solid floor general for the Braves, then Williamstown will have a good 2021 season.
Dan Mason, 6’9 PF Bishop Eustace
The Crusaders need to replace Christian Tomasco’s presence down low and Mason should get the first crack at it. The 6’9 post has a nice touch around the basket and can get good position down low. Mason has a good release on his free throws and is working on his range. He fights for rebounds on both ends of the floor and uses his size to altar shots around the basket. Bishop Eustace has the potential to make some noise in the Olympic Conference if Mason can be a presence down low.
Brian Farrell, 6’2 SG Donovan Catholic
The Griffins are an underrated team in the Shore Conference and Farrell has the chance to help them win the pod. The 6’2 guard has a good feel for the game and does not force things on the offensive end. Farrell can attack the basket off the bounce and can make plays when he gets into the lane. He is an underrated defender and is a good rebounder for a guard. Donovan Catholic will pull off an upset or two this season, especially if Farrell can play off of Amari Petty Amari Petty 5'9" | PG Manchester Township | 2022 State NJ in the backcourt.
James Iannelli, 6’2 SG Bishop Eustace
The second Crusader on this list, Iannelli has a chance to make an impact this season. The 6’2 guard has a good handle and can beat his defender off the bounce. Iannelli is more than just a driver as he has a nice release on his jumper. He makes smart decisions with the ball in his hands and can move his feet on the defensive end. Bishop Eustace needs to get production out of Iannelli for the Crusaders to be one of the top teams in the Olympic Conference.
