Impressive Players – West Fargo Sheyenne vs. Fargo South

Coming into today’s game South was 4-1 and ranked #8 in our Power Rankings. Sheyenne was 3-1 and ranked #5 in our Power Rankings. After the tip-off it is was all Sheyenne in this blowout. The Mustangs imposed their will upon the Bruins. Sheyenne is simply too long and athletic for South to compete with. The Mustangs played their best game of the year today and they were able to get deep into their bench. Sheyenne went inside early to set the tone and held a nice 14-3 lead. The one bright spot for South was Kam Arechigo who had 17 points with 5 triples. Jacksen MoniJacksenMoni6'9" | PFWest Fargo Sheyenne | 2021StateND had a dominant game scoring 18 points in the first half and ended with 24 points. Sheyenne was very impressive on the offensive boards today with many players snagging extra possessions for the Mustangs. At halftime, Sheyenne held a 21-point lead. It was more of the same in the second half for Sheyenne. They once again had their way inside the paint. On defense, they mixed things up a little throwing in a zone press and some 2-3 zone. At one point it looked like they played a box-and-1 on Arechigo to keep him from busting more 3’s. Overall, it was a dominant display for the Mustangs. They finished with a 34-point victory, their first “W” in 2021. Made three-pointers- Sheyenne = 8 Fargo South = 7 Game Takeaways – This is the best Sheyenne has looked on defense all season. The players looked bought in and played very hard. Sheyenne looked great on the boards today, they crash extremely hard on the offensive glass. Kam Arechigo is a top-notch 3-point shooter. Jasksen Moni was a stud today, he looked like an All-State Player. Diamond made a couple of impressive baskets in the paint amongst the big men from Sheyenne. Kameron Arechigo (2021) |6-2 G| Fargo South – 5 made 3’s on the day. Sheyenne gave him a ton of attention and played multiple guys on him throughout the game. He had a 6’8” player guarding him in the first half and was being chased in the second half by a few different quick guards. He was still able to get his shot off and produce today. This is the most athletic and biggest team he will go against all year. Khamani still played hard and worked for everything he got. He showed nice touch knocking down a 15-foot jumper in the second half. Peyton Kessel (2021) |6-4 F| Fargo South – He is a hard-working rebounder. He had a nice strong post move late that resulted in an “and 1”. Peyton showed some potential today, look for him as the season continues. Tre Hendrickson (2021) |5-11 G| Fargo South – I was impressed with his quick hands today and a couple of his sneaky steals. I like how hard he pushes the ball in transition. His eyes are always up and scanning the floor. He showed again today that he can hit triples. Barika also works hard on the defensive side. He finished with 10 points. Dominic Dosmann (2022) |6-8 F| West Fargo Sheyenne – He was great again on the O-boards. Dominic is a gritty player. He scored on the block today, which is good to see. He showed today that he can be a great defender. He scored 6 points in the game. Gage Anderson (2021) |5-10 G| West Fargo Sheyenne – He was impressive today on defense with relentless pressure. Gage is a capable shooter and hit one 3 today. He finished with 9 points, all in the second half. Jacksen MoniJacksenMoni6'9" | PFWest Fargo Sheyenne | 2021StateND (2021) |6-10 F| West Fargo Sheyenne – Started the game out with a made 3-pointer. He dominated today with his size and skill. This is the best Jacksen has looked so far this season. Besides scoring, he rebounded well and swatted a few shots. He looked good from the line today as well. He scored 24 points in the game. Look out for #24, he is a beast! Jah’Heem LeakeJah’HeemLeake6'8" | CWest Fargo Sheyenne | 2021StateND (2021) |6-8 F| West Fargo Sheyenne – He showed off his shooting skills again today by nailing a 3 in the first half. Jah’Heem is tough around the rim and finishes through contact with ease. Most teams can not match his size and athleticism. I enjoy watching him high-point the basketball on rebounds. He finished the game with 16 points. Michael NhialMichaelNhial6'6" | SFWest Fargo Sheyenne | 2022StateND (2022) |6-6 F| West Fargo Sheyenne – An athletic lefty that can hit threes. He made two 3’s and finished with 7 points. Michael has loads of potential.
