While the Mr. Basketball award is just given to seniors, it’s never a bad idea to take a look at the top players in the class of 2022 and see who could have possibly won the award if it were given to all high school classes.

Washington is one of the top players in the entire country and despite just playing seven games in his first two seasons due to injury, he has looked a lot like his old self during his junior season for Gary West.

The 6-foot-9 forward is able to play both on the perimeter and on the block. His extremely improved jump shot has translated to multiple games this season with multiple made 3’s. His standout performance was in the FORUM Tipoff when he scored 23 points and drained four 3’s in a 60-51 win over Southport.

Overall, he has had a very impressive junior season. His athletic ability is there, still just a bit rusty, good length, a very smooth stroke and a growing IQ. He is every part of the reputation that preceded him.
