The league has produced several promising players at both the higher level prep schools and at the collegiate levels. Let’s go into some names to know from the Baker Division from Georgetown High School, a promising team who has had their season cut short because of COVID-19 related reasons.
Harrison Lien | 6’3” | Combo-Guard | 2022
Leading this Georgetown team in scoring, Harrison Lien brings versatility on both sides of the ball. Off the ball, Lien understands when to make the right reads and has great timing on his cuts. He has a great feel for the game and as a lefty shooter with a fluid stroke, Lien can get his shot off in tight spaces, both off the catch and with the ball in his hands. With the ability to make passes off the live dribble, Lien makes smart decisions with the ball in his hands and shows patience when setting up the offense. A tactile on-ball defender, Lien’s presence makes him a capable on-ball defender on the perimeter. A leader on the floor, Lien is also always in constant communication with his teammates.
Justin (JT) Murphy | 6’0” | Lead-Guard | 2021
While Georgetown’s season was cut short due to COVID-19 related reasons, senior JT Murphy made the most of the truncated season, helping lead Georgetown to an impressive 5-0 record. With a fluid shot off the dribble Murphy can get this shot off in a timely manner. Capable of creating his own shot off the dribble. Murphy has a knack for utilizing great footwork with his rim attacks and also understands when to push the pace in transition. He can also play off the ball but makes sound decisions with his pull-up game. With a quick first step on offense, Murphy has solid anticipatory skills that translate to both sides of the floor. Coming into his own as a floor spacer, Murphy connected on six-3 pointers during a recent win against Manchester-Essex.
Grant Lyon | 6’4” | Big | 2023
A physical rebounder with the ability to provide a presence at the basket, Lyon is all hustle all the time. He anticipates both passes and shots, stays with small matchups and does a great job of using his active hands in passing lanes and rejecting shots without fouling. Lyons does a great job of beating his opponent to a spot especially when boxing out as he is always crashing the glass with intent. On offense, setting up in the high post, Lyon moves the ball with intent, as he’s showcased the ability to make quick passes once the ball touches his hands. While not every pass gets through, he is always searching for a way to get open for an easy look at the basket.
Jack Lucido | 6’2” | Off-ball Guard | 2022
Quick trigger shot, Lucido does a great job of spotting up in the right places, especially in corners, getting his feet set, and firing on all cylinders from beyond the arc. A pure shooter, Lucido can hit shots from way beyond the three-point line as he is always ready to shoot at all times. Capable of hitting 7-three-pointers on more than just one occasion, Lucido understands when to move without the ball, setting himself up for high-quality relocation looks.
